Review

"Dylin and Allison explain it all with kid-friendly reassurances for today's tech generation! Young children can manage their money after they learn to count it, and we need to share these skills as soon as they're ready. Your kids will have fun learning the basics today so that they avoid the big mistakes later in life." --Doug Nordman, Author of The Military Guide to Financial Independence and Retirement and Raising Your Money-Savvy Family for Next-Generation Financial Independence

"If you'd like to give your children the gift of a head start on their personal finances, Investing for Kids will deliver in a way that's not too complex and, dare I say, interesting. Read the book to your grade schoolers or middle schoolers, and you're almost certainly going to learn something new yourself!" --Leif Dahleen, MD, Physician on FIRE

"Every preteen should read this, especially if they want to have more money and a chance of financial independence in the future. A great guide to the fundamentals of money in terms of history, money management, investment, and even entrepreneurship. A worthy investment of their time." --Paul Vasey, Founder of CashCrunchGames.com

"Investing for Kids is written in a way that encourages financial empowerment and makes investing fun. With the rapidly changing economy, it is so refreshing to read a modern take on investing and the impressive women and men who blazed the investing trail before us. I wish I had this book when I was younger!" --Andy Hill, Award-Winning Family Finance Expert from MarriageKidsandMoney.com

1.0 out of 5 stars Woke preaching doesn't belong in an investing/finance book
Reviewed in the United States on 10 August 2021
Teaching a kid foundations for a basic understanding of financial concepts is what I bought this for. Investing is about putting money to work in an efficient manner to create more wealth. Teaching woke 'virtue' and 'morals' does not make you understand finance terms or investment better.

Example1 - ESG score.
Teaching an 8 year old how to read a company's ESG score (a companies woke scorecard) and to use that as a basis for investing is anti-investing. Think ESG actually means something? Tesla, who is a leader in solar innovation and technology that could eliminate gasoline cars , has an ESG of 31.3 . It ranks 49/73 in automobile makers. Meanwhile, Volkswagen, who settled a huge lawsuit for lying about their eco ratings, has an ESG of 29.9 and ranks 42/73. Why? Musk doesn't bend the knee

Example 2 - Diversity investing.
The book actually tells 8 year olds to look into a companies diversity. It says to consider companies based on gender of their workforce or the color of their skin because women/minorities are, of course, oppressed. I don't want my kids to feel oppressed in the most free society ever created. Heck, I'm not even sure they know they're a minority but definitely don't want them to feel lesser because of it.

If you're like me and just want a book to do what it says, then don't buy this book. I wish another parent would have posted a review like this so I wouldn't have wasted my money or time. I bought this book a long time ago, but never bothered to look inside. Better late then never, I suppose.
