I did a ton of walking and discovered that deep and regulated long breaths made a big difference. I learned that months after I started walking. When I started walking, I had ragged breaths. It wore me out. Dan Brule covers this at the start of his book, I was slapping my head, if only I'd read this book before starting my walking exercises.
After reading this book, I understand far more about my breathing and how it can really help me sleep, in times of stress and how to breath when exerting myself. I've tried all the exercises in the book and other than the long breaths which I use daily, the sucking your tummy in on inhaling and then sucking in further on exhaling was a revelation and hurt my abs the next day. I hadn't expected just breathing to be a good ab exercise.
