These alarms are extremely LOUD, but if you’re ever in a situation where you need to use them, you’re going to want them to be! And it’s a bonus that they have pretty powerful LED flashlights as well. It’s nice that they come as a five pack- I keep one on my keychain, one in my work bag, and I’m planning on giving the last 3 to family members.
I read most personal safety noise devices should be at 120-125 decibles. This one said 140 I think which is why I picked it along with it's great price, colors and reviews. I tried all 5 individually... My ears!!! So yes they're loud/work well.
I tugged lightly/and not directly away first (see video) to test how easily it could 'accidently' get pulled out. It did not fall just out. As I tugged harder than harder it clearly came out but it wasn't hard to tug. I think it has a great balance between too easy to pull out accidentally and being too hard (it isn't at all too hard. Promise. A determined light-medium tug works).
The light is a nice perk.
I read elsewhere these devices have that large "button" as a fake 'off' button for the bad guys. So they can't figure out how to silence it bc the "button" won't work. (It doesn't do anything.)
Pull to have alarm go off, back in to silence, small slide button for light, and chain to attach.
I definitely recommend it.

Perfect. Just what I was looking for.

Amazing for the family for peace of mind. At only $3 a piece, it is an affordable tool for the whole family to carry for emergencies. For your wife & daughters it is a must for protection. Easily carried in hand and ready as they are walking to their vehicles or the front door of the house. Woman are stalked all the time and this is a great deterrent to protect them. One quick easy pull and a piercing alarm will go off. No codes to memorize, just put back the pin and the sound is silenced. It has a keychain and is small enough to have with your keys. Hopefully you will never need to use this, but if your life is in danger then it is a good idea to have one. Even the built is good, it does not feel like it will break if dropped by accident. There is screw that holds this device together and it is for replacing the battery. Which to be able to change the battery makes this a long term gadget. Not a use once and throw it away item.
I decided to try this alarm because I hike frequently with my two dogs in isolated forest areas. There are frequent sightings in the area of mountain lions, bears, coyotes, and bobcats. I liked the idea of this alarm because of its portability. My dogs and I almost levitated when we heard the horrific noise level. If that doesn’t deter any predator, I don’t know what will. I also like the very bright light on the alarm. I was impressed that there are five alarms for the low price. I attached one to each of my key rings and keep one in my purse. My only concern is how easy it is to pull the trigger on the alarm. There is a wearable cord that pulls the plug out fairly easily. I wouldn’t wear the cord around my wrist for fear of accidentally releasing the hounds, so to speak. I hiked with my key ring in my pocket as usual and all was good. It’s nice to know I have this safe guard if needed.
I bought these with my mother in mind. I gave one to my husband and daughter. I also gave one to my 85 year old mother. Their compact. You can hang it on your purse or belt strap on your pants. Keep one in your car. Their so easy to use. Just pull on the strap to activate the alarm. To stop it just put the pin back in. The piercing sound is deafening. My husband jumped and he knew it was coming. lol This is especially great for the elderly. My mother has osteoporosis, diabetes, diabetic retinopathy and a host of other things that diabetes causes. She's never home. She has so much trouble walking because of the diabetic nerve pain in her legs, but she does not let that stop her. Her traveling on the bus alone, especially when you meet people who like to push little old men off buses, is scary for me to think that could have been her. My mother can't see very well and it was nightime. She thought she was on the driveway and didn't lift her foot high enough and fell onto the sidewalk landing on her arm/shoulder. She broke both and her collar bone that day. She laid there for 20 minutes stunned and in severe pain before someone driving by saw her and got out to help her. She forgot to take her cell phone that day too. So owning one of these isn't just about saving you from a robber, it can save your life. Maybe if a robber sees it hanging on your pants or purse he'll know to leave you alone. These little alarms are a must have no matter what your situation. I recommend these.
I have already purchased twice and I am planning on getting one more purchase! I am so impressed with these! Bright light..great for finding keyhole in the dark. I was afraid to pull the cord. These are really loud! Which is what you want. I am giving them for stocking stuffers..and xmas gifts for the women at work. With it getting dark earlier I like the idea of having something to get attention in our big parking lot. Also I am giving to elderly relatives..including my father...who likes to go for walks. I will feel better with him having this in case he falls. Also...we go camping. Great to scare off a bear while hiking..and so easy to carry! Great for so many applications. So happy I purchased!!!
I received the personal alarms in good condition and on time. I couldn’t resist testing them without warning my husband or dog, they were both rudely shocked by the loud sheik the alarm! Luckily I haven’t had the need to test the effectiveness of the alarm in scaring off any attackers, but it’s pretty loud. Hopefully the shock value would buy you a second to get away, or even better to scare the attacker away!
Works best if pull pin is hooked to ring so it is not lost if pulled. I threaded emergency ribbon connected to alarm pin, and then attached ring to an item I usually carry-book bag, key chain, etc. If emergency pin is pulled out of the alarm unit the pin is not lost because it is hooked through the attached unit. If the alarm would need to be used on another occasion it will not be rendered useless due to the loss of the alarm pin. This is an excellent all-around alarm, and can be attached by safety pin to a child’s clothing to use if you get separated in a mall, parking lot, patty, at outside church or school functions, etc. Essential to teach the child that unit is NOT a toy and will potentially cause loss of hearing if used as a toy.
I love that it's really loud, it will hurt your ears if you leave it beeping so hold away from your face this will definitely hurt a perpetrators ears if you are able to get it near his/her face. It's lightweight and easy to use, but not where you may accidentally pull the plug by mistake, it takes a simple tug, no strength needed and has notches so it doesn't slip out. I highly recommend these, I also carry Mace but this is a lot easier to use in a highly stressful situation, you can put it in your pocket so you can access it easily or put it on your keys for easy access, my mace I keep in my bad and occasionally my pocket but it's bulky so it's usually in my bag so that makes it harder access but this alarm is so much easier to access. This would be great to gift to family and friends.
