I bought the book, sight unseen, as no stores I went to had any stocks left.
I intended it as a gift for a 7 1/2 yr old (with promised help by her Mum as 'sous chef' ;) )
Whilst quite a number of recipes sound delicious and healthy, there is a large number of gooey, sugar-laden cakes, sweets and desserts.
I love the vintage Women's Weekly Birthday Cake books, but those sweet treats are intended for special occasions only, not for everyday cookery.
For a young child, many of the recipes in this new book have a long list of ingredients, plus the text size is quite small, making it challenging for a young reader to read.
It would be ok for about 11 years and up, but keep in mind the high number of sweet recipes.
I ended up buying a different kids' cookbook online for the 7 1/2 yr old, with loads of very healthy recipes.
It was sight-unseen too, but a better result.
