Affordable SSD

I used this SSD to upgrade my main working computer, which had been running Windows 8.1 (32 bit) for several years. The 240GB SSD is larger than my previous SSD (128GB) so I was able to do a clean install of Windows 10 64bit plus all of my favourite software and still have lots of room to move. Running 64 bit Windows has meant that I was also able to effectively double my RAM from 3.2GB (previously available) to 8GB.

Although the Kingston SSD is not the fastest kid on the block, for the price I paid, it is very affordable, and I now have a significantly faster PC.

I would recommend this SSD.

Low Cost High Impact NVME entry

I bought 2 of these for my QNAP TS-351 to use as SSD Cache. At first I was a little confused as to how to install as Ive never really dealt with NVME chips, though everything from unpacking the units to installing was a breeze (and tool less). Performance increase is immediately noticeable.

If you’re looking for a low risk low cost entry to m.2 ssd’s - these are probably the most suitable.

I got this for 29.99 which is great for 120GB SSD (at the time of purchase!). Had a free SSD slot in my PC so bought this just as an extra bit of moderately fast storage I’m addition to traditional HDDs and NVME drives that are either already installed or planning to be installed. By the way, didn’t come with a SATA cable but I think this has always been the case when I have bought drives.

A cheap way to speed up an old computer

Put this into an old Dell computer that was only SATA2 (3 GB/s) but it is so much better than the old hard drive it's incredible, and loads and does everything much faster. It's just an economy SSD so it doesn't have to perform miracles, and the extra capacity is very welcome. I've never had any SSD fail on me (including other Kingstons) and as this one only gets light work I think it will probably outlast the computer!

basic ssd with sleek design. is cheap and performs exactly how you need it to. no problems yet but ssd's don't depreciate in performance for a long while. Only issue is the constant fluctuation in price. I bought it when it was 46$ and now its 33$ if your reading this and the price is under 40$ it is an absolute deal and u should grab it if you need a cheap ssd that does its job.

Por el precio que tienen ahora mismo merecen la pena, pero en concreto este modelo de ssd tiene memorias TLC, las más básicas, y eso se nota. Yo compré dos, y uno de ellos arrancaba en 51 grados, mucho más caliente que el resto de mis discos duros. Además, tenía el firmware antiguo, cuando intenté actualizarlo no me dejó, y con un comportamiento tan errático decidí devolverlo, Amazon como siempre de 10 en este sentido. De todos modos con el precio que tienen actualmente, no pierdes nada probando.

Describo ahora que pasos sigo cada que vez instalo un ssd. Depende de si tienes sólo 1 ssd ó si tienes ssd+ hd, el proceso puede variar (ej. los temporales los pues quitar del ssd si tienes un hd, de otro modo no). :

- Activas en la bios modo AHCI (sata, no raid). Poner cd de windows con el orden de arranque desde la lectora y empezar instalación. Se creará un espacio de 100 mg y el resto será donde hagamos la instalación. No hacer particiones al ssd, sufre demasiado.
- Una vez instalado, comprobamos alineación y Trim correctos. Para alineación podéis usar Disk Alignment Test, es gratis y no pesa nada. Para Trim, ejecutar sobre windows cmd, escribir fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify , dará valor 0. Es correcto y seguimos.
- Desactivar pagefile.sys, "Panel de control, sistema, sistema, , Configuración avanzada del sistema, opciones avanzadas, configuración, opciones avanzadas, cambiar". Ahí o bien la quitas y la dejas a 0, o la quitas y la pones en el HD, depende de si tienes mucha RAM.
- Desactivar desfragmentar, sobre windows, escribiendo Desfragmentador, se abre y quitamos programación. Además lo quitamos en servicios, escribimos en windows servicios, se abre y paramos y deshabilitamos “Desfragmentador de disco".
- Desactivar indización, abrimos mi pc, botón derecho sobre c, propiedades, y desmarcamos la segunda opción "permitir que los archivos de esta unidad tengan...." os dirá que necesitas ser administrador, dáis si, os dirá que no todos se pueden, le dáis a omitir. Este paso es el que más tiempo lleva, por eso lo suelo hacer al inicio. Además hacemos lo mismo que antes en "servicios", la opción se llama “Windows Search”, la paramos y deshabilitamos.
- Desactivamos hibernación, sobre windows escribimos cmd, y pegamos "powercfg -h off ", ya está hecho.
- Desactivamos Prefetch Y Superfetch, sobre windows escribimos regedit, luego seguimos la ruta HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ Session Manager\ Memory Management\ PrefetchParameters y en las claves EnableSuperfetch y EnablePrefetcher poner un valor 0. Además desactivamos Superfetch en servicios, como en los pasos anteriores. Se llama Superfetch.
- Desactivamos puntos de restauración, "Panel de control, sistema, sistema, Configuración avanzada del sistema, protección del sistema, abajo disco c, configurar", y los eliminamos y dejamos a cero.
- Desactivar programación windows defender, sobre windows escribimos defender, y desactivamos la programación (no el programa).
- Cambiar ubicación carpeta temporales, (con ssd + hd), de otro modo no puedes hacerlo. "Panel de control, sistema, sistema, Configuración avanzada del sistema, opciones avanzadas, variables del entorno, en la casilla de arriba (Usuario) se modifica TEMP y TMP y se le asigna el directorio que prefiráis en el HDD, por ejemplo, D:\TEMPORALES, y hacéis lo mismo con TEMP y TMP de la casilla de abajo (Sistema).
- Todos los programas de descarga a d, no en el ssd,, (con ssd+ hd). Ej: torrent, firefox, etc etc.
- Comprobamos velocidades del ssd, deben ser parecidas a las que se describan, cuidado que si abusáis de programas tipo crystalmark, una instalación de windows pueden ser unos 60 gb (con todos los programas habituales), pasar este otro tipo de programas varias veces son 2 teras. Insisto no abuséis si ya estáis seguros de que la velocidad es la correcta. A 250 mg/sg de media entre los archivos pequeños y los grandes, echad cuentas cuanto escribes en 1 minuto.
- Si el ssd tiene software propio, tipo magician en el caso de samsung, usadlo, y cread el reaprovisioamiento, esto os quita espacio en el ssd, pero alargrá mucho su vida.
- No os fiéis si crystalinfo dice que tenéis AHCI y NCQ activados, verificad AHCI en la BIOS, si lo está, entonces tenéis los 2, lo digo porque yo me he llevado sorpresas.

He intentado ser lo más claro posible, que cada cual use este guión bajo su responsabilidad, a mi me va bien con él, y sólo he pretendido ayudar.

Avevo semplicemente bisogno di un SSD per dare nuova vita al portatile di mio padre (un acer di una decina di anni fa, rallentato dai mille mila aggiornamenti e programmi fatti nel corso degli anni e qualche virus) avevo subito individuato che il bottle neck del pc fosse il tremendo HDD da 5200rpm che montava, e visto che mio padre avrebbe usato questo pc solo per consultare la posta e navigare in internet, ho pensato che non servisse spendere centinaia di euro per un tablet o un pc nuovo! è arrivato dopo un giorno, dopo poco meno di mezzora era montato nel portatile di mio papà e dopo poco meno di 1 ora avevo già installato windows10 e i programmi base! Il notebook ora ha ripreso vita, è veolcissimo ci mette circa 15 secondi per avviarsi (prima ci metteva 8minuti cronometrati) ed è finalmente utilizzabile!

Hice un pedido de 3 discos SSD. Los 3 han fallado alrededor de los 2 meses de compra. Toda la informacion perdida!
Hemos puesto un Kingston "bueno" y el comprado aqui. El Kingston "bueno" aparece en todas partes con un FIRMWARE que pone KINGSTON con el modelo.
En el comprado aqui, aparece solo SATAFIRM S11 y nada más, ni fabricante ni modelo ni nada....
El informatico nos ha dicho que son "serie B", es decir o bien son kingston que se han reparado o no son kingston porque lleva un firmware genérico.
Nunca habiamos tenido este problema con Amazon.

After reading a review by a DGS fellow that said he had 30 years in the tech business, I thought this was a real P.O.S.. Well, a little while ago my Ex called me up because she was having some issues with her computer and wanted me to look at it. Being the sap I am, I said ok. Turns out the HDD was bad. The bells went off and I remembered the review left buy the tech guy in Florida and I thought "Eureka!". I would get this SSD for her system and within a few days her computer would explode like a dumpster full of TNT.
I get the SSD not on time but a full day early in fact. It installs super easy and she comes and picks it up. I have to hide my excitement as I just wait to hear about the evil that is to come. So after about a week I get anxious and call the Ex to see what was up. Her "Boy Toy" answers and gives me the dreaded news. Not only is it still running, but it is super fast and efficient. He then proceeds to thank me and compliment me on "How mature" it was of me to do this for her even after how messy the divorce was. And how good of a person I really was for being the bigger person and all of that.
Long story short, if your looking for a piece of hardware to sabotage your Ex's computer with, this is not it. But, if you are looking for a stable SSD on the cheap to add some performance to your system, well, sadly this is in fact it.
