From the manufacturer

KNIPEX ErgoStrip: ergonomic dismantling and wire stripping
Replaces several tools
Electricians normally use several tools for different types of cable such as round, coaxial and data cable: the requirements of wire stripping differ too much to contain them in one tool. At least that has been the case until now. With the KNIPEX ErgoStrip, a number of tools can be left in the tool bag during instalation work. This universal dismantling and wire stripping tool makes it possible to dismantle and strip all standard cables in modern house wiring with a few hand movements and without changing tools.
Ergonomic and universal – the trick with the bend
The functional versatility of the universal dismantling and wire stripping tool lies in its design. The two-shell pistol handle design has made it possible to integrate several functions – and the ErgoStrip also sits extremely well in the hand. The ends of the tool are tapered at the front, thereby permitting space-saving dismantling work in flush mounted sockets. Markings inside the tool permit accurately repeated stripping of single conductors and dismantling of coax cables. A simple twist movement when dismantling and stripping, or a straightforward slit in the case of long dismantling distances, and the desired result is achieved.
Slit on the cable, with limit stop in the junction box, accurately on the single conductor
The preparatory work before wiring on a terminal box, distribution box, power or network sockets, can be carried out accurately and in a time- saving manner using the KNIPEX ErgoStrip: slits on the cable to dismantle longer sections, dismantling deep in surface and flush mounted sockets to leave the minimum sheathing required; stripping single conductors and – very important in today’s house wiring – the dismantling and stripping of coaxial cables for satellite and cable networks as well as data cables for home networks (LAN).

The sheathing on long sections of cable is cut into accurately using an inset blade for slitting, and can then be removed simply. |
The Knipex ErgoStrip is fitted with six wire stripping blades for cross-sections of 0.2; 0.3; 0.8; 1.5; 2.5 and 4.0. |
Many common types of round and damp-proof cable, e.g. NYM cable from 3 x 1.5 mm² to 5 x 2.5 mm² and outer diameter of 8 to 13 mm, are dismantled quickly and cleanly. |
Coax and data cable are precisely stripped – accurately repeated where necessary thanks to integrated length scale. |

Its a lot of money for a piece of plastic with some blades on it.
There are times when it's great, a job that involves the working of flex on multiple items consecutively. In these circumstance, the outer insulation stripper is the best part, making nice clean cuts without over scoring to the inner insulation after a bit of practice. The inner core stripping section whilst useful, is less practical to use, having to eyeball up the different size holes, you need to do thus as if you don't get it right you either fail to strip the insulation or you strip too tightly and end up ripping out the copper strands. I had a job that involved flexing up dozens of light packs and control boxes over a couple of days and gave up using the inner insulation stripping feature, just used my side cutters.
Good for stripping meter tails outer insulation, handy for when you can strip it back over long lengths to save space and ease bending in large panels or boards.
There are times when weeks havd gone by and I haven't used it and all of a sudden I get to a part of a job that warrants the use of this tool but much of the time, by the time I have gone back to my tool box and dug this out I could have done the stripping with my side cutters that I always carry when fitting out/second fixing.
Also, in view of the fact that these have not really had a great deal of use, the blades seem to be wearing and not scoring cleanly anymore.
Not a de rigeur tool for all sparkies but a useful tool to have for those regularly on jobs that require lots of flexing up.

Always used knife or side cutters to strip flex or co-ax cables. Had a load of heaters and coax points to second fix and some FP200. This stripper did a fantastic job and if used correctly there is no cut through to inner insulation. A well thought out tool that is so easy and quick to use.
Update
the blue catch breaks easily and for the money I would have expected it to last more than 9 months of occasional use.
Quite disappointed seeing as in the past I was very pro-knipex

However, I've now owned this for 2 years and it has proved its worth many times.
Its great for stripping the outer insulation off of twin and earth
The slitting feature is really useful when you need to strip long lengths.
It's also one of the few strippers that really works well with co-ax cable.
I was worried that the blades would become too blunt to be of use after a while, but 2 years on, they're still working great without any issues.
Overall it's still in perfect condition, it's well designed and tough, (always make sure you close it before you put away).
So, yes, it is expensive, but if you need to do a lot of cable stripping, of different sizes, it's a good choice.
Recommended.
