A quality product at a bargain price! It's worth pointing out that the description on Amazon implies this is rated at 60 Lumens, it's 120 Lumens and far more powerful than the so called 5000 Lumens of the headlamp that I returned...It's light weight at 4.4 oz, it's compact and very very comfortable to the point you wouldn't really know you had it on, no doubt helped by the upright battery pack...Thankfully, there is a single on off button on the top of the lamp housing, no messing about having to keep pressing it for various output levels or effects, and thank God there's no "Strobe"! Power output is controlled by a lever on top on the battery pack, if I was to describe it as 10 O'Clock being low power and 2 O'Clock being high power, I have found positioning the lever around 1 O'Clock or a little less to give ample power to see at distance and around 11 O'Clock as a work light...Under the lamp housing there is a sliding zoom button, in reality once you have found a nice balance between this and the power output you can pretty much leave it alone...I purchased mine for beach fishing so wanted a light that will stand up to a few knocks, so I was very pleased to find the lamp housing is metal and not plastic sprayed to look the part, this also tilts down with reassuring clicks and remains in position...I wasn't sure at first if the light would slip with not having a strap that goes over the head, but with out without wearing a Beanie the light has stayed put...
In the heading it says, "Test-it" pack, and behind the sticker saying "Test it" there is a button to switch the light on, this seems way over the top when a hole in the packing above the lamp housing might allow you to do this. Because of this "Test it" button it also means the button has to be wired in to the battery pack, simple enough until you come to remove the wires. As you'll see in the below image, one wire is connected to a small circuit board, which was placed between the battery and spring. Remove the battery and this pops out. The second wire however disappears in to the housing, as though it might be attached to the power output lever. There are ample instructions included but sadly no mention of how to remove this, so I called the distributer who said to give it a firm pull, and everything would be OK. Which it was!
I started by saying, "A Quality product" and on the front of the packaging it says, "German Engineering & Design"...So I thought it might actually be made in Germany, but sadly not. It's made in China under strict guidelines, but Ledlenser have so much faith in their product, you get a 7 year warranty! Incredible for any headlamp or product for that matter but one that costs £18.99 at the time of my review, I think it's out standing. On top of that, you get two sets of Duracell AAA batteries which will keep you going for a while...
I really can't fault this headlamp, it comes well packaged, it's light and has plenty of power and for the money with a 7 Year Warranty included, I'll believe you'll be hard pushed to find anything better even at twice the price!
