Much brighter (1100 lumens vs. 800 lumens in the current Philips range)
Better colour (although I have not yet tested the new Philips "richer colours" bulbs)
No need for a hub
The LIFX+ model bulb includes IR light, which helps my CCTV camera "see" in the dark.
...and they have just the same integration options as Philips Hue (Nest, SmartThings, IFTTT, with Apple HomeKit coming soon)
It's a shame LIFX don't offer a cheaper 1100 lumen white-only option (I don't need coloured bulbs in my hallway, for example). They *do* offer an 800 lumen white option, but I much prefer the brighter bulbs.
Don't be a fool like me. Other options may be dimmer in light but at least they are SMARTER.
I gave up on using the light as intended a few months ago, but even as just an ordinary white light it doesn't function properly. About every 2 weeks the light resets, cycles through all colors, before settling on an annoying blue light. I then have to flick the light switch on/off about 4 times to reset it again when it normally goes back to white. Earlier today it died completely (doesn't have any light), and I'm just going back to an ordinary bulb that doesn't have fancy tech and just works.
