I've used the Android app on my phone for this and it works flawlessly, the bulb is always highly responsive when I select something in the app and has never bugged out on me. I will definitely get more of these in the future.
Would still recommend it, and will consider LIFX when i get to making the rest of the house "smart"
Product clearly does not live up to the promise of WiFi range, which is disappointing considering that minimal bandwidth is needed for control. Where my phone and WiFi camera are easily in range, the bulb is out of range
(20m away from AP).

Cons: The one I have goes non-responsive every few days and has to be switched off an on at the wall to reset it. Not the end of the world, but annoying when you're tucked up in bed and trying to control it. The dimming seems to be linked to power rather than light output, and so there's little discernible difference in brightness between 100% and 90%, but a huge difference between 1% and 10%. I would prefer the 100% scale to give more flexibility at lower brightnesses, especially since it is a little too bright for a nightlight when set to 1% brightness.
Additional: I bought a second one of these slightly cheaper, as an Amazon return. It arrived in as new condition, but it had to be reset into pairing mode again (presumably because the previous owner had paired it to their Wi-Fi.) This isn't tricky: just turn the wall switch off and on, slowly, 5 times, and the bulb will go into setup mode so that it can be discovered by the LIFX app. But I did have to Google to discover this, so maybe adding this here will save someone else the trouble.

I would give this product 5 stars, but my view has to take into consideration one bulb works flawlessly and the other doesn't.
The bulb that does work, is fantastic. It is bright with dimmable function exactly what is described. Connects well and the functionality is very intuitive. Absolutely perfect.
The other bulb has become unreliable. It worked well at the beginning but after a few weeks is now temperamental. Now when I first switch on in the evening its only reliable about 50% of the time. It also drops connection every now and then. When it fails, you have to switch it off/on to get it started up again and use like a regular bulb, so its not the end of the world, but hardly its intended function. I've tried fixing by suggestions on their website, to reset it or attempt firmware update, with no success.
Overall I have a mixed view. I like the functionality of the bulb (the one that works properly) , it is a really good product, but unfortunately I also have one that doesn't work.
