Runs EXTREMELY hot aka Ballast Killer
Reviewed in the United States on 21 June 2019Item Package Quantity: 8Verified Purchase
Bought these for my airstream to replace the bulbs in the ThinLite 112’s that are all over the place. Install was easy. However within two hours the two fixtures I left on quit working all together. Ballasts and “bulbs” were too hot to the touch. See the picture of the burned out IC. Now I have to buy two new ThinLite fixtures, not happy. Seller will blame the ballasts as being on its way out, somehow I find it hard to believe that ALL TEN FIXTURES have a failing ballast. So they’re just shifting the blame off them onto the original manufacturer. Stay away from this product, find one that requires you to wire your ballast out of circuit.

Bulbs run way too hot for LEDs
Reviewed in the United States on 9 January 2019Item Package Quantity: 8Verified Purchase
I've been converting all the lighting in my home to LED and was excited to see these existed as a direct replacement for the T5F8 fluorescent under-cabinet bulbs in my kitchen. After installing them, I'm really disappointed and cannot recommend them as a good solution.
Less importantly, though they are stated to be 4000K, these are more blue than the 4000K recessed downlights that I recently installed. There is an obvious difference and I'd say these tend more toward 4500K-5000K. I use the under cabinet lights as indirect lighting at night more than I use them for task lighting, so the lights are way too harsh for my application.
More importantly and potentially dangerously, these run VERY hot. There was a comment somewhere in the 3-pack version of these that state they ran hot as well. I read other comments about them failing after a short amount of time. I wouldn't be surprised if these things are connected. I installed all 8 of these in different fixtures and after 20 minutes of being on, I noticed heat coming from the bulbs that never happened with regular fluorescents. All of the bulbs were too hot to handle and my infrared thermometer gun read nearly 140F on all of them. (By comparison, the 9W A19 bulb powering my desk lamp has been on for hours and is running about 100F according to the gun and can still be touched with bare hands. I can also easily handle out the T5F8 fluorescents without needing them to cool down after they've been on for hours.)
I do not trust these in my fixtures and I'm worried that using them may do something to the ballasts or even increase the risk of a fire. I really wish they would have worked because the price was worth it to avoid having to rewire the fixtures.

Excellent product! Cost less per unit than the fluorescent they replace if bought at Home Depot.

These are simply Awesome. And the price is even better. These cost less per bulb than the T5 fluorescent it replaces
Home Depot : Philips 8-Watt 12 in. Linear T5 Fluorescent Light Bulb, Cool White (4100K)
Model# 391144. $8.47
These look great in my kitchen, the color temp of 4000K looks accurate, as advertised, which is a cooler temp than many 3000K ceiling lights, etc. But the standard temp for most 12 inch fluorescent lights you would find. I used 7 of the 8-pack for my under-cabinet kitchen lights (i tested all 8), and they all work perfectly. No flicker, nice quality of light and 1/2 the power use of a fluorescent. This is truly a no-brained: They cost less than the fluorescent, use 1/2 the power, put out 1/2 as much heat, if even that. And they work. Nice product and build quality. They have a reflective side the covers half the cylinder length that you can either choose to insert light so that the reflector bounces light to counter or up into fixture. I installed mine reflector side down actually (to bounce the light up into fixture) to soften the light even more. Either way looks great, but this just appeared to reduce light output 10-20%, more to my taste.
