To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Step 1 - DO A FIRMWARE UPDATE This dock could not pickup the native resolution of one of the displays at first, but it worked after a firmware update. (v3.1.68) It worked well on an X1 and P53. It did sometimes have trouble charging the P53, but apparently you have to connect a 230W power supply and purchase a special cable for that to work. Charging worked better on the X1, but it is slower than directly plugging in the power supply.
I tried the dock on my Macbook pro 2019, and Apple's lack of support for Displayport 1.2 MST caused the 2 monitors to be mirrored. The OS only detected 1 external display. There is no workaround. However, the ethernet port did work on the Mac out of the box.
The reason for -1 star - the speed of the ethernet connection is about 500mbps, so half the speed of advertised gigabit. This was tested on Windows and MacOS. Perhaps Displayport + PD ate up too much bandwidth of the thunderbolt connection. Either way, the wired connection was no faster than WiFi through this dock.
Lastly, there are cheaper docks out there. But it's difficult to find one that works well on both Windows and Mac. Just make sure you buy one with upgradable firmware. I'm keeping this doc for my Thinkpads, and bought a usb-c > displayport cable to use with the Macbook.
