The people in charge of mixing Hendrix material still can't get it right!!!!!!

One of the worst sounding Hendrix concerts, only just next to the Atlanta concert which had shocking sound and performance. To give you an example, back in the 80's the album The Hendrix Concerts, had 500% better sound overall, compared to anything that was mixed since the 90s and after, and also just to prove the fact that some of these songs [at least a couple] were mixed way better with a much sweeter, warmer and fuller sound, just check out the two songs from the 4 cd box set. I was really hoping this time they would get it right, however they did not, and all the instruments sound disjointed, thin and Jimis sound is very raspy sounding,. A very dry sound!! and on top of that Mitch Michel's drumming really makes it slopy as hell!!!! Not a performance I could ever get into, I really think Jimi was struggling to enjoy playing at this concert, and I truly believe with the outside sound being so difficult to repair, Jimi just didn't care that much and really sounds extremely sloppy in most songs, if not all!!!!

I saw the teasers on YouTube in September and promptly pre-ordered this. But for the fantastic concert footage I would have felt conned now I've seen what I was actually buying:Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 November 2020
A DVD with two fragments of the concerts and a film about the making of "Rainbow Bridge"
2 CDs with music from the concerts; and
a booklet.
No Hendrix aficionado who is even only half-trying doesn't have the music already. This purchase was all about the film.
And what I got was amazing, some of the best filming of the band I have seen. Everyone looked happy and the playing was great. BUT there's not much of it and few complete performances. It was as frustrating as it was invigorating. You didn't get that much more than you can get on YouTube, free. The concert footage was a montage of the actual concert, a lot of photographs being panned in order to create the illusion of movement and bizarrely a repeated banner photograph (fragment reproduced above) "All Cameras Stopped" It I think had the longest slot in both films.
The documentary of the making of Rainbow Bridge was informative. There was one thing I learned having bought the "soundtrack" of the film back in 1971 and then the videotape of the film which I kept fast forwarding trying to get to the soundtrack right up until the credits. It was a ripoff as a result of the dodgy dealing of those involved in the making to the film. All of the background and anecdotes was a reminder of the craziness of the period. It was nice to hear more from Billy Cox but overall it fell well short of making me feel happy that I had spent £30.
The four stars I've given this is really an average of the usual 5 stars for the man and 3 stars for the product.
