I type a lot for my work, so it was a surprise that my Microsoft Sculpt keyboard and mouse started wearing-off sooner than I expected. The Logitech MK545 combo felt like a good simple replacement. Its keyboard has a good layout, with just the right keys and not crowded than what's necessary. It has standard function keys, a calculator key, Windows lock key (handy), media buttons, and volume keys (takes a few presses to work at times). Typing is soft and comfortable. Keyboard build quality is decent, but it can be better at this price point. Hand-rest should've been a little longer for full placement. The mouse is just the right size for my hand, not too small and not too big. But Logitech should make the mouse clicks a bit softer. Overall a good combo for everyday use in home or office.
No trouble with drivers or anything to get this set up. You must use the receiver that comes with the set because old receivers do not work. However, you can use the receiver that comes with this set to connect an older mouse or keyboard as needed. The typing is so quiet. Not completely quiet - but much less noise than any other Logitech keyboard I have ever used. So I don't annoy my office neighbors with my typing. That is a huge plus for me. Everything connected well out of the box - once I figured out that you must use the receiver that comes with the set. I have purchased two sets - one for the office and one for home. I love them and highly recommend.
**update I received a replacement keyboard and mouse today and they both worked right out of the box, plug n play. This honestly is one of the best keyboards I have ever used and the softest touch is responsive. The mouse is a bit too sensitive and much faster in movements and clicks than my former logitech but i'll adapt. Initially, the mouse did not work out of the box and did not click at all. The replacement took a week but works as it should but I had a week wasted without a new keyboard that I had paid for.
I'm not sure if the problem was Logitech or Amazon. But I received this brand new wireless keyboard and mouse combo today and the packaging was suspect. The box packaging, the mouse packaging all was badly tapped where it did not look like original packaging, but repackaging. Out of the box the mouse would work as in moving up down left and right, but it would not click. Either the mouse was defective out of the box, or this was returned by a prior user after they broke it and amazon repackaged it and sold it to me as new. In any event this, this was right back in the box and returned after waiting a week to get it. Disappointing
This keyboard and mouse combo works just right. The only problem I had was upon delivery the scroll wheel on the mouse wasn't working, neither were the back and forward buttons. After a searching online, I decided to dissasemble it and that's when I noticed the scroll wheel was misaligned. I put it back together and now it's working perfectly. I assume it's a rare issue, but it happened to me.
I purchased this combo for plug and play into a Chrome book and eventually a PC. It worked ok for the Chrome book. It's been a total disaster trying to get it to work on my Windows 10 laptop. I've just wasted 3 hours of my life trying to get this to work. The mouse will not work and everything locks up...including the laptop mouse. I've uninstalled/reinstalled dozens of times. I tried to update the drivers from Logitech. I tried every USB port for the receiver on the PC. After all that frustration, you would think you could submit a simple help request directly to Logitech on their website but....WRONG. You cannot "contact us" other than go through pre-canned trouble shooting.
This is out of the return period but well under 1 year. Deeply disappointed and likely will not buy another Logitech device.
