3.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT match Makita Brand tools
Reviewed in the United States on 10 June 2020
This is not meant to be a Makita vs Ryobi side by side review, I am just able to give you my opinion on both.

Short and sweet, this vaccum works. But if you were hoping it would match up to your Makita Brand tools, it will not. I bought it specifically to attach to my 18v plunge saw and 18v miter saw (both relatively modern, purchased in the last 8 months) but I was very disappointed to find the hose will not attach to either of my tools. I knew it wouldn't attach to the sander, this will obviously not attach to your 18v sander.

I had been using my buddy's Ryobi brand vaccum for a while and decided to get my own. The Ryobi one worked okay because it has an angled hose head that can sortof "auto fill" whatever you put it in. It wasn't a perfect fit but at least it went in both my plunge saw and miter saw and was usable, unlike the Makita hose which does not even insert or attach, just kindof butts up against. Maybe Makita is changing this on the tools they put out from now on, but it's frustrating that it doesn't line up with the tools I have now. I can not speak to the use of their "wet" features as I just do carpentry and only needed "dry" vaccum features.

Since I had them both I was able to do some side by side comparisons.

Suction: Ryobi
(I hate to admit it but it did seem to have stronger suction. I tried with the same accessory. Though again the Makita suction seems fine.)

Hose Length: Makita
(about 52" in a straight line, Ryobi 47" in a straight line)

Ease of Use: Ryobi
(Hands down easier, exposed battery easy to grab hose doesn't "wrap" around anything just sits on top, easy on/off button. While Makita has a sortof weird on/off high/low dial which is all plastic, and a battery "chamber" that you have to open up to get the battery, as well as a wrap around hose that takes an extra second to use.)

Size: I'd say a tie.
(The Makita is noticeably smaller, but taller. Ryobi is takes up more sqft for sure. Not sure if one holds more than the other. Makita seems a nicer size for car cleaning.)

Anyway I will either buy some sort of hose adapter (but that seems annoying) Or I will return this and buy a Ryobi one, which is about 2/3rds the price. Hope this helped.
