To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I heard about the author being interviewed in a podcast and his story was fascinating. The book did not disappoint! Very easy to read and the guide to meditation is perfect for beginners.

Great content, but extremely repetitive.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 August 2019Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the premise of the book and some of it is what you might call common sense.
Overall there's valuable information here and if you read the whole thing I would think almost anyone could benefit from the information.
However, it's a bit of a tough read because of the extremely repetitive nature of the content. That may, indeed, be useful for some people who need to read the same thing over and over for it to sink in, but I found it distracting.
I don't think there's anything world shatteringly novel here, so it shouldn't really need such massive repetition. I think the entire book could have been done in 1/3rd the space quite honestly.
So good content, not quite as good style perhaps?
I've seen the author on stage with Ruby Wax and he's much more concise in person, so I may be misunderstanding the reason the book is written the way it is.
I give the content 5 stars, but the writing style 2 stars, hence overall rating of 3.
I bought a copy for my brother, who has exactly the same reaction to it. Great content - somewhat distracting writing style.
If you're into this kind of thing, I don't think you'll regret getting this book. You might sigh a few times as you re-read something that is already - by that point - abundantly obvious, but you'll enjoy what you take away from it!

A seriously helpful / brilliant book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 June 2019Verified Purchase
Gelong Thubten has written a phenomenally well researched, enlightening debut book. It finally explains Meditation and mindfulness in a practical way, which is accessible and easy to understand. This is such a helpful book, without being a "self-help" book. I am in awe of what he has overcome and can't recommend this book more highly.
