Slim & nice design but the larger square original MR Beam motion sensor lights are brighter and also have a longer range for picking up motion. These do blend well into the surroundings as compared to the bigger versions but only disappointment is the brightness of the light and the range.

Nice lights with an annoying design problem

The lights are very convenient, and work mostly as expected. The smaller form factor compared to the larger versions is also nice as the lights are lighter and in my opinion more attractive (although slightly less bright). The problem I have is that the space where you insert the AAA batteries into the light is just too small. I had to apply a ton of force to get the batteries into the lights which caused the metal contacts in the light to bend and in a couple cases the plastic supporting the contacts actually cracked. I think the lights will work OK, but it is very difficult to get the batteries out of the lights (I had to use a knife and scrapped up the batteries pretty bad to do it). I am also concerned that the pressure on the metal contacts and the plastic casing will eventually cause the plastic housing to break. Not sure these will last, but we'll see.

Batteries are really, really hard to put in place on a few of them but once in place they work as expected, this is my second set of Mr beams... Just needed more for the new house. definitely bright enough for night time usage.

I wish that you could adjust sensitivity and the light sensor so that they didnt turn on when its foggy out or when the cats walk by.

These are wonderful for lighting up stairs where there's nowhere to plug in a regular night light. The first set of batteries lasted around 7 months.

So I have a cat. And this cat likes to sleep on the stairs. I have stepped on said cat in the middle of the night in my dark stairs more than once causing me to stumble down some steps. So this was my solution. They are plenty bright, easy to install, and are super sensitive. The problem i was having was if someone walked by the bottom of the stairs or top of the stairs it would come on... my solution was to narrow its vision by painting all but the center iris of the lens so that you had to actually be on the stairs to set it off. And it works flawlessly.

Great for low-traffic areas. Short battery life in high-traffic areas

The MB706 motion lights work really well for night-time motion lights in low-traffic areas. The light is enough that you can see to get around but not so bright that it blinds you when it comes on. The problem is that these lights use AAA batteries, which are expensive for their capacity and life. Rechargeable batteries are an option, but again, for AAA's they are an expensive way to go (the batteries to run the light cost more than the light itself). Another problem is that the unit is difficult to take apart when you're replacing the batteries.

These are really good to have in low-traffic areas, where you occasionally need a little light (closet, cupboard, above your circuit breakers). If placed in a high use situation (for example, where the pet walks past many times per night), you'll be forever replacing batteries.

Things that would make this motion light better:

1. Easier opening to replace batteries
2. Adjustment for motion sensitivity
3. Adjustment for daylight sensitivity
4. Adjustment for duration of light activation

Yes, I know that 2, 3, and 4 would increase the cost... but if it could be done without much increase, it would go from good to awesome!
