Cheaper than others and just as informative.

I belong to an adult Shakespeare group where we take turns reading and then discussing. The Wordsworth texts are much cheaper than others and are well explained. Now just about to order Richard 11 which will be the third one.

Good for key stage 3.

My daughters class were "doing" Much Ado about Nothing in English, though they only watched the film.
This annoyed her, so she wanted to read the play, and @I felt a copy with some explanation would be better for her. This was perfect for the job, she could read through and get a "translation" of the more difficult sections.
However, I would have thought that it would be a little brief for GCSE. It was fine for the "I just want to read it", but for more in depth study the notes seem very brief.
I also cannot see this book surviving for any length of time in a schoolbag, the covers are very thin and I would worry that the book would get torn within days.
So, if you want to read the play with some explanation, this is perfect. For a study aid, I would go for one of the more detailed books available.

An excellent, cheap edition of the play
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 November 2011Verified Purchase
Wordsworth Classics do not try to be anything they are not, a feature I have liked about them for years. They contain the text in a basic paperback format and are produced at a very cheap price. For students at Key Stage Three or GCSE, these are excellent texts, allowing them to annotate, underline and highlight in the knowledge that "they are expendable". For play production, they are ideal. Concentrating students on the text is an excellent idea which forces them to think and consider the language and that is the Shakespeare.
There is an edition of this accompanied by a CD and it is the best reasonably-priced study CD I have encountered and much better than many higher priced competitors; not only is the content excellent but the software and programming is solid too, an essential feature of any study CD.
Recommended.

Understanding Shakespeare
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 April 2015Verified Purchase
I bought this as I was taking part in an amatuer dramatics production of the play. Having never studied Shakespeare I was impressed with this version which contained extra notes and info explaining the language. For the first time I understood it!
Shakespeare wrote his plays for performance I am told and having taken part in a performance I can testify to this, the words come alive in performance.
This is an excellent version of the play.
