To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This inexpensive and very portable test set can handle all manner of diodes and transistors, detecting type and pinouts on a colour screen. It can also accurately measure resistors and capacitors and reports ESR. The items can be inserted anywhere in the ZIF socket provided. It would have earned a fifth star if the ZIF socket could be mounted in a more stable fashion, but this is overcome with careful handling. Highly recommended - a very useful item for identifying and measuring all the usual single components.
The enclosure is so thin that the battery door jams against the battery, making it impossible to open. I basically had to damage the case to replace the battery after having it for a very short time.
The accuracy seem OK, in line with what others have reported for these types of units. It appears that they are all based upon the same open source design. It's handy if you've got a bunch of random components on your bench.
The screen is nice. It doesn't appear to indicate polarity on an electrolytic cap or handle zener diodes as other similar units claim.
I received this in good time and order. So far it has worked flawlessly for me. The accuracy is not that of a much more costly unit but this workes well for the price.i have recommended this to others.. It is good for a at home do it yourself type individual. But would lack in a every day hard use situation.
It looks like I got a DOA unit, unsure how to contact the seller. Hopefully this review will get their attention. Tried two batteries testing each on a DMM, no indication of power on the display when hitting the test button, or either button.
