Now, for all the not so good stuff... The management console is horrible and not intuitive. You can try using the web-management console or the App, but it's also just not that great. Creating VLANs and managing them is just bad. While this is a managed switch, you cannot actually change the management IP or the VLAN that it resides on, so you will need to use VLAN 1 to manage the switch and set the gateway and the IP address as per default. I don't know what happens if you get two of these switches on the same LAN with the same IP addresses.
I wouldn't recommend this switch at all. Go find a better one that is actually manageable.
LIFETIME WARRANTY - Next Business Day replacement and 24/7 chat with a NETGEAR expert
A port on the switch I received failed after six months. I called NETGEAR support at 855-PROSAFE. I waited on hold for over four hours before giving up. I opened an RMA ticket using their website. I did not receive response within the week that I opened the ticket. I returned to the website to find that my ticket has disappeared. After another 4 hours of hold on a second call, I've given up.
I generally think of NETGEAR products as good, but when they do fail, just expect to throw it away and buy again. The lifetime warranty is a lie.
Netgear has really fallen off as of late.
