Brightness: don't be fooled/confused by "ANSI Lumens" vs. "Lumens" on amazon. They aren't comparable. Opinions differ as to the exact conversion, but in our experience this 500 ANSI Lumen projector was similar to a business one rated at 2500 lumens. I'm not sure what the difference is, but you'll find this projector suitably bright for a backyard viewing where ambiance is more important than picture quality. For viewing in late summer evenings ~9:00-12:00, we had no issues (in Toronto, Canada).
Screen size: the 150 inches is the diagonal screen length. From a distance of about 10 feet away, we got a picture that was roughly 10 feet wide by 7 feet high projected. Good resolution (720p) but obviously not "high definition".
Content: the entire projector runs on wifi and in the native android 7.1 OS you are able to download Netflix right out of the box. To get Amazon Prime and Disney+ to work, you'll need to ask Anker to opt you into their beta-test for the next software update. This is done by emailing customer service, who got back to me within 24 hours with simple instructions. I was able to get both Amazon Prime and Disney+ loaded onto the projector without difficulty with their help. With those apps running over wifi (or downloading content) you have plenty to watch!
Interface: The software is a bit clunky - think of a smartTV from 5+ years ago and you'll have a sense. Most of the apps don't work with the remote control that is provided, so you'll need to download the Nebula App on your smartphone to use your phone to control the projector. Not a huge problem and relatively straightforward, but something to do before you get out of wifi range!
Sound: The 10 watt speakers are... fine. They aren't going to give you a cinematic surround sound experience, but for a group of 5-10 people sitting near the projector you should all be able to hear 'ok'. Honestly the speakers are more of a convenience than ultra high quality - if you want great sound you'll want to connect external speakers to the standard audio-jack that is provided.
Battery: Haven't done extensive testing but the 3 hour battery life advertised seems accurate - enough for one, maybe two movies if you're on the go. It is easy enough to just keep the projector plugged in if you're close to home.
Autofocus: Works exactly as described, no fiddling with focus... it just works!
Price: At $800 CAD, this is right at the mid-point (from what I can tell) between the entry level options ($150-300) and the low-end of home-theater projectors ($1500+). Would say "you get what you pay for", and if this is on sale or the price has come down, its a steal!
Unfortunately stoped working after 2 weeks.
Won’t switch on!
It’s for you if you like having tv anywhere you go. The image is pretty clear up too 85” but if you go over that then it gets little blurry or maybe the video I was watching was older video, anyways that’s the only issue I could say and the speaker on it is very impressive, didn’t expect that from this small of a device. Battrey lasts about 3 hours, for me it’s perfect.
Picture quality is fine, a bit out of focus after playing for 5-10 minutes but Thermal Focusing helped cover that issue
Portability is great, but it is not really friendly for ceiling projection.
Great product good purchase in general
