It's hard to rate this book, it depends on what you are looking for.
The owner's manual is just a listing of settings and functions, and this book usefully explains in a paragraph or two various settings that might be a short sentence in the manual and somewhat opaque. For someone who is new to Nikon interchangeable lens cameras, or for someone who's previously not really dived into the details of a Nikon DSLR, it will provide a good, useful overview. Although aimed at still photography, it is quite complete, with decent sections on video, using BT and WiFi, flash etc.
The book however will disappoint the "intermediate" Z series owner, I think. It has a some of what you might consider basic 'padding' on exposure, composition (but not too much). What I don't like about it is that the depth and insight on Nikon Z specifics is limited. It expands on the manual, but doesn't give much detailed exposition on what works well when in the various AF modes, for example. It barely refers to IBIS, and some of the sections on minimum shutter speeds appear to be written as if the body didn't have IBIS.
If you are more of a newcomer, it's probably 4-5 stars. If you are reasonably experienced, it's probably more like 2-3, and you should wait for a book from someone like Thom Hogan, or on a specific subject like AF from someone like Steve Perry. I gave it 4 stars because I thought it fairly lived up to the exact wording of its title "Still Photography Guide to Operation and Image Creating with the Nikon Z7 and Z6", just don't expect the "expert" level of insight.

This guide is all you need.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 March 2019
The Nikon Z cameras are too new for there to be the usual range of guides available on Amazon. Happily, Doug Klostermann's e-book is available. I've used many guides across various cameras and assert that this book is one of the best I've used. It covers everything a Z user would need to know to be able to use the camera knowledgealby so as to get the best results from it. It's logically and progressively structured, the information set out so as to make the information accessible and immediately applicable. The book, therefore, is best used with the camera in hand. I wish the authors would publish a hard-copy field guide in a small format so that it could be carried in the camera bag or anorak pocket. This is a book that should be available in hard copy?

Good startup book for the Z6Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 December 2019
Great reference book for the Z6, covers what is necessary. The only mistake was I bought the ebook and I should have bought the okd fashioned paper version.
Just what I was looking for.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 February 2019
Recently moved from a NIKON dSLR (D800) to mirrorless Z6. There are many similarities carried over between the different technologies and having a knowledge of Nikon characteristics certainly helps to adjust to the newer model; however the manual, whilst comprehensive, is rather hard work to digest. This book is helping me make the most appropriate use of the very large range of set-up options.
