If you’re like me and could not decide between the two. I’ll explain why I picked this over the smaller S1R2
Lets get straight to the point.
#1- With this light you have another 150 Lumens over the S1R2. Not much no but is it noticeable? Yes.
#2- If you’re going to be using a light often through out the day you’re going to want something that fits into your hand nicely. The S1R2 is small. You’ll be basically holding onto it with just your finger tips with a higher risk of dropping it. Idk about you but im not trying to drop and lose a $70 light that will potentially last a life time. This S2R2 fits great in the hand giving you a nice firm grip with the aggressive scales.
#3- Longer Battery Life!
#4- The price! Its literally only a few more bucks to get the S2R2.

With all that being said I want to say this was not a paid review nor did I receive this light for free I paid the full price. This is my honest opinion on the light, I was so impressed by it I figured I would get back on Amazon and give Olight the “well done” they deserve.

Use this lil bad boy daily at work and I love it. Needed something small enough to fit in my pocket but bright enough to light up a ceiling 30 feet in the air and this does both. This being rechargeable was a must as changing out these specialty batteries is expensive when you use a light this much. The magnetic base/ charging cord is absolutely awesome. I’ve been using a little single triple a coast light and this thing blows that one out of the water. Construction is great and switching between light functions is great. Even has a lock out function, which I do recommend using if you are going to carry in your pocket as this lil bugger does get hot as hell on high and turbo mode. Not my first olight and definitely not my last. I will update my review as time goes on but as of now I definitely don’t have any buyers remorse for this light!

Flashlights have come a long long way in my lifetime! I have no (none!) Amazon/product affiliations and I paid for this myself...most expensive flashlight I've ever bought. With that said..

This thing is awesome! For it's tiny size it puts out insane light, especially on turbo.

The controls are intuitive and easy to learn, AND, I actually like them! (They make sense and give you killer options).

The moonlight feature is sweet. The magnetic base is worth the head switch. The magnetic charging is worth the head switch. The knurling is just right. The size is easy to pocket. It has a easy to use lock out. The beam pattern is pretty balanced...maybe a touch on the flood side for me but very acceptable.

The only, and I do mean ONLY things I can criticize are pretty minor: the battery inserts what you would consider "upside down", the clip I expect to fall off and lose at some point (but they do give you two of them) and the lense is plastic rather than gorilla glass or optical glass.

This is the most powerful and flexible light this size I've had the pleasure of owning.

Just got this in the mail today and can say already that the clip doesn't seem to hold very securely to my jeans pocket, nor do I like the positioning of the clip. I don't mind carrying my knives tip up, but I do not want to carry my flashlights this way. Sure, you can reverse the position, but this leaves half the light hanging out of your pocket, which I'm sure I don't have to tell you is asking to have it fall out and get lost. Olight really should add a spot at the tail to properly reverse the direction, otherwise, it's a fantastic light.

Light never worked

This is the second time I have purchased an S2R II and I was never able to get them to work.

The first time I purchased through the olight website. When I received it, I was never able to get it to work. I contacted olight customer service several times, and finally after about a month of talking to them, they sent me a replacement tail cap. That did not solve my problem. After talking with them even more, they finally gave me a shipping label and allowed me to return the product to them for a full refund.

I decided to buy this same product again on amazon since it was on sale and I did really want this light. Had the exact same problem with this one. Can’t get it to turn on. Tried different batteries, tried the battery it came with in my other light and worked. Tried tightening the cap. Nothing. Very irritated with this experience. Olight advertises quality products, and I have had two defective ones in a row.
