Product description

Review

"The versatility of pasta shines in this cookbook! Francesca is a master at the Italian way of using simple everyday ingredients to create delicious dishes. Here, she teaches easy and quick meals that will immediately stop your family from saying '... pasta again?'" --Richard J. Michelli, Founder & Executive Director of ItaliaLiving.com

"I enjoyed reading about the history of the various pasta dishes in this book. I also found the 'Pastability' suggestions for each recipe to be a brilliant idea. Anyone who enjoys Italian cooking will enjoy this cookbook. It has all of the classics that everyone who loves Italian food should know how to make. The easy-to-follow instructions and the photography were also terrific!" --Megan Silletti, Author of Cooking For My 3 Sons, Heart to Table, and Metamorphosis

"This book is all you need to up your pasta game; for convenient, affordable, and healthful meals made with real Mediterranean style." --Ellie Krieger, Food Network and PBS host, and Award-Winning Cookbook Author

"Francesca has triumphed with a book chock-full of pasta recipes perfect for every day of the week. Reading through the recipes, I'm so impressed with the attention to detail. And the best part is that the recipes are simple and easy to follow. This book makes me want to run, not walk, into the kitchen and cook pasta. Brava, Francesca!" --Joanne Weir, James Beard Award-Winning Cookbook Author and Cooking Show Host

4.0 out of 5 stars Relatively Easy
Reviewed in the United States on 6 December 2020
Probably far easier than classic recipes that take all day, but many of the recipes do require more time than busy families have time to prepare. One example which is actually titled "Easier Weeknight Lasagna" has a prep time of 20 minutes. I know I could not remove sausage from six casings, chop 1/2 a small onion, chop 4 tablespoons of fresh parsley, mince two cloves of garlic, grate a cup of parmesan cheese, and arrange everything in a pan in 20 minutes. And then, there is a cook time one hour and fifteen minutes--50 minutes of that is bake time. This is marked as a "Worth the Wait" recipe, but I think many families would be getting ready for bed before this is ready.

To be fair there are faster to prepare recipes that do look delicious, but I think many of the prep times listed are very optimistic.

The introduction of 21 pages is nicely organized and makes using this cookbook easier to use. I have to admit that I am more likely to plunge in making a recipe before reading the introduction which isn't smart, but knowing I am probably part of a crowd of people who do the same thing makes me feel not so alone.

For those who like cookbooks with pictures this will be a disappointment. Perhaps 10% of the recipes are accompanied by pictures.

There are also recipes for Sides, Salads, and Drinks. Her easy(er) Bruschetta looks very appealing as do some of the drinks which if prepared while making "Worth the Wait" recipes very worth the wait.

Many of the recipes are yummy and not that time consuming. I am pleased to add Pasta In a Pinch to my cookbook library.
