Silly me! I bought these because the information said "Sync your lights to music or movies using the Hue Sync app" so I wrongly assumed I could somehow sync them with my TV, watch a movie, and the lights would follow the colours on the TV. One can but only if you have a PC, laptop or similar connected to the TV supplying the video to it (and even then it won't work with Netflix etc). Unfortunately I did not realise this until after I had purchased the lights and did further research. Having said all this, they still make good TV backlights (albeit expensive ones).
