I have tried lots of other LED bulbs that claim to be dimmable but none of them work properly. While they don't break, they don't move smoothly from a gentle glow to full brightness. I didn't try these at first because I didn't want bulbs where you can see the internal light source (as you can with these). After lots of failures - bulbs that stay bright regardless of the dimmer setting, bulbs that dim only a little,,, I bought some of these Philips bulbs. And they are perfect. First of all they work really well with the old style dimmer switch, moving evenly from a very gentle light up to full brightness. And secondly having them here I now rather like the look of the 'lotus flower' within the bulb that emits the light. I have only had them for a few months and so far none have failed. When my other bulbs die I will be replacing them with more of these.
As some people had mentioned there is a very slight buzz from the bulb when turned on a lower setting. The buzz is very minimal, I probably wouldn't have noticed it only for it being mentioned in the reviews. It doesn't put me off using these bulbs for bedside lamps.
