The Good, The Bad, and a workaround.

So here is my application. I have a small toy hauler trailer. It is just the right size for me and my wife, but when you add family and friends on a campout, it becomes a bit cramped. It's much easier to have entertainment outside for larger groups. I have a 100" screen that sets up outside and I am using this projector to display movies and entertainment for larger groups. I have high speed internet in my trailer so I can connect anywhere we choose to go. What was important to me was brightness of the picture, loud enough for groups to hear, and the ability to play movies from a hard drive or USB stick or cast from my phone or computer. After putting this through the paces for several months here is my impression.
The Good : 1. picture is bright and high quality. 2. Sound is good, and I can add separate speakers and subwoofer with the audio Jack. Has plenty of inputs, HDMI being most important for me.
The Bad : the software is not ready for prime time. If you are using the apps on the projector, they are unreliable. I successfully connected to the internet, updated several apps, but even after updating, Netflix would never allow me to log in to my account. Miracast attempted to connect with my phone, but would immediately disconnect. Then the system started acting up after the software updates : it wouldn't adjust the display correctly and wouldn't switch Inputs. After performing a factory reset and getting rid of the updates, the projector acted normally again but still no Netflix or miracast.
The other thing that may cause some people an issue is the size of the projector - this is not small, I wouldn't want to carry this for a presentation where I had to take it on a plane. If you are looking for a carrying case that fits, you may have a hard time.
The Workaround : for me the best fix is to avoid the software issues all together. I plug in a Roku to the HDMI port and use that as my software interface. For those who don't know, the Roku also allows screen mirroring, so no problem casting from my phone or laptop.
As far as finding a case that fit, I wanted a hard case to keep the projector safe while being thrown around with camping equipment. However, i didn't want to spend $300 on a hard case to put a $400 projector in. The solution, harbor freight has hard cases with pull apart foam inside to fit. With a coupon, I purchased the case for $48. The best price I could find for a hard case.
Overall impression : if the software was operational and updated correctly I would give this 5 stars, but if you are just relying on the software to work - you will have issues. I purchased this in October 2018, so I don't know whether the 2019 software update resolved this situation.

This projector was better than I was expecting. I'm no expert on projectors by any means, but I figured that for the price, it would probably be a little blurry, hard to operate, and have limitations. So I was very pleased that I was able to easily hook up an HDMI cable from my laptop and watch Netflix with great clarity. I was surprised that I was easily able to focus it to be able to read text at 1920x1080 resolution. It took me less than a minute to get everything aligned and focused. The only thing this projector seems to be missing is the ability to adjust tint. It is slightly yellowish on midtone reds. It does have a number of different color adjustment options, however, and I was able to clear almost all of that up for a near perfect color tone. The fan does make some noise, as I assume all projectors do, in order to keep cool, but it is relatively quiet and all but unnoticeable if one is watching, say, a movie on a huge screen. Overall, I am very, very pleased and may purchase another for my restaurant. On a side note, I also ordered a screen from another seller, but the projector came first. I was very eager to test it out and came up with a poor man's solution to make a huge and usable screen. I simply got a large cardboard box, unfolded and flattened it, and then taped holiday wrapping paper to it (the back of most wrapping paper is white and semi-glossy) and then just hung that up. It actually worked bizarrely well! One thing for those using a computer - the default mode for the projector is "DVD", which will cause a small amount of the top and bottom of a PC screen to be cut off. If you click the "M" button on the remote to get options, you can go down to "DVD Mode" and change it to "PC Mode". It's nice and bright too - I'm using a 120 inch projector screen and it's very vivid. I think this could work effectively up to 200 inches.

Money down the drain

I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this projector. The remote did not work and this wasn't learned until the installation was already completed. The installer suggested using a wireless mouse to navigate thru the settings but that still didn't work. So what I'm having to do is stand on a fricking stool to click source..then click o the input that will allow me to operate my dvd player. I am stuck only watching DVDs. Cant access Netflix or the other apps due to the remote not working right out the box and not being able to navigate properly to the other settings. I couldn't return unless I paid my installer to come back out and remove it, send it back and THEN pay to have it reinstalled. This is so unfair..and on top of that the dam thing just cuts off periodically in the middle of looking at the dvd. Worst purchase I ever made. $500 down the drain!

Not bright enough for my needs!

The stated lumens is led lumens not ansi lumens that most of us are used to. This is a pretty good projector but not any brighter than 2200 lunmen project that I am trying to replace which has some issues. It is not a short throw projector so to fill the already installed screen I would have to move it back several feet to fill screen. If you want a projector that bulb last a very long time and requirements are not for a bright room you may be happy with this projector.

For a great price, this projector gives you a nice clear image and is easy to set up. Another nice feature of this projector is that it is very quiet with very little fan noise. The projector also emits very little heat. The only negativesI have seen so far is that it is rather large and bulky for a projector. Its huge lens also means that it takes a bit to line it up to fit it on the screen. Another negative is that the remote is only ok. But overall, a great buy so far and for the price, it does its job.
