I have bunch of devices (xbox, dvd player, laptop) connected to a high end AVR. AVR in turn is connected to Digital TV. They were all connected thru HDMI cables accumulated over the years or those cables that came along with the devices. Setup would work but at times, TV would lose signal momentarily or there would be flickers or white dots. Problem would be more pronounced when connected to laptop but sometime also with Xbox.
Did a thorough troubleshoot over many hours and narrow down it to HDMI cables. At first, brought a budget HDMI cable. Problem become even more pronounced and had to return the same.
After a lot of research and going through tons of reviews, bit the bullets and decided replace all the HDMI cables with a high quality, true 18GBPS andHDMI 2.0 a/b standard cable. And bought 3 of these and replaced all the connections with these cables.
Result - no more white dots or flicker. Super happy with result.
