But the good folks at Pyle have managed to screw this up. Was it the bends? The sheet metal? The powder coating?Nope. They nailed those. But the holes? They're in the wrong spot. No, not the ones in the floor of the shelf. We don't really care about those. Those are fine. But the 4 holes we do care about? The ones used to mount this sucker into a rack? You guessed it. They done messed it up.
Standard rack spacing calls for a center-to-center spacing of 18 5/8". This item only had 18 1/4". Now three eighths of an inch might not sound like a lot, but it's darned sure enough to keep this lovely shelf, with it's beautiful, precise bends and pristine powder coated exterior from doing the one thing that it needs to do to fulfill it's destiny - actually mount in a rack.
I have to admit, I was curious just how they managed to accomplish this, so I went ahead and contacted them. I had a nice online chat with a rep, described the problem and uploaded some pictures even. He said that someone would get back to me. Took 'em about a week. Then I got a nice response from them:
Hi John,
Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience.
The rack and space on your shelf is not the same.
However, you can secure it once you put the bolts.
If you need any further assistance just reply to this ticket and I will do my best to help out!

Sigh. There's a lot to unpack here...
1. - "sincere apologies" - ok I'll not dispute that...
2. - "rack and space on your shelf is not the same" - ok so far so good. They seem to have grasped the problem. Clearly the pictures helped.
3. - "you can secure it once you put the bolts" - NO!!!! I CAN'T. THAT'S EXACTLY THE PROBLEM!!! Language barrier problems aside - there is no way that you can assert that merely "putting the bolts" will solve the problem when the problem is that you can't "put the bolts" because the holes are in the wrong damn place!
So, good reader, it should be no surprise to learn that the shelf, with its precise bends, its lustrous powder coating and its wayward holes is on its way back to whence it came.
My advice to you, should you be considering this item is to pass. Unless, of course you have an abnormally skinny rack. Then this just might be perfect for you.
Cheers!

P.S. If you are like me and think everyone else must be doing it wrong, nope! It is the shelf... I don't think there was any way a company like Pyle would sell something that wasn't perfect because 90% of us cannot be doing it wrong. Thanks for listening, I had to blow off some steam anyway :)

If you need to mount equipment into a 19" rack then this is the best shelf.
Factory specs have max loaf rating as 110lbs. I have about 60 sitting on it and it looks like I could add more.
Highly recommend these.
