I have been a yoga practitioner for 30+ years. The philosophical basis of yoga is the Vedas, the teachings of the ancient scriptures of India. They are complex and often not that accessible to the Western reader/student. Swami Satchidanda Saraswati provides a fantastic introduction for beginners to the truths and practices of Vedanta and then in a series of short essays he addresses how to use these teachings to improve one's personal life in terms of physical, spiritual and emotional life. You can choose specific topics after the Introduction to Vedanta. I highly recommend this book. Easy to read and very informative.
