Better than the cheaper one I bought

I bought a cheaper version for myself (55kg) at the same time as I bought this for my husband (105kg). Wish I'd bought another one of these for myself too. The cheaper version is a lot lighter and flimsier in construction and not suitable for a larger foot in my opinion. The Moki doesn't fold up like the cheaper version and is heavier but the solid construction and larger foot area more than compensate.

This is a sturdy step, but has a major flaw. The screws holding the rubber bumper pad are not covered and they end up denting the door frame during use.

I like the product and will use. That being said, I weigh about 220 lbs (clothed) and I do see a strain on the door pillar when I use. It does not appear to damage my 2017 Tacoma and we shall see how the truck fares with continued use. The “slam latch” where the Moki attachment fits is quite high on the door of the Tacoma and when I stand on the Moki, my belt line is above the edge of the roof. This is higher than I need, but that is OK as I am able to reach almost any spot on the roof of the crew cab. Should help when I tie down my canoes.

Of the three steps I ordered from Amazon to test, this one is the best. Longer platform length means you can get both feet on. Longer hook stem makes it sit a little lower than most but the platform rests horizontally when installed on a vertical door frame, not slope downward like the others. The width of the hook makes for a wider contact area between the hook and door latch, adding further stability to the step. The silicon/rubber padding on the heel of the step protects the car paint and further prevents shifting under foot. Not like the other steps that came with cheap adhesive foam weather stripping. This step doesn't fold like the others but the sturdiness of a one-piece design is much appreciated when standing on it. The others felt flimsy, did not inspire confidence. Store it with the spare tire, no problem. Not a fan of the orange finish though, I wish it came in black. Unlike the product photos of the other steps tested, this step is right in line with what is pictured, both in form and in function.

This is so helpful for reaching things on the roof rack that are more towards the front of the roof, and for reaching to centre of the roof. Because this is higher off the ground than a tire step, it gives us amazing access across the roof to secure, shift, and reach things. We also purchased an OEMTOOLS Tire Step to use on the back tires, and love that too. Each one is handy for slightly different reasons. This is sturdy and safe. If you don't feel comfy stepping up higher, and being higher off the ground, then a tire step would be a better option. We can only use it on the front door, as the tire well was in the way on the back doors, but that's ok. We are using this on a 2019 CRV.
