I actually didn't like this book. I absolutely loved book 1, loved the storyline, loved Tempest and where her life had taken her. I had waited for sooo long for this to come out as I wanted to see more of Pyre and Tempests relationship flourish and grow. Instead I got a stupid, annoying girl who thinks she can save the world by making rash, dumb decisions and would push down others who get in her way. Because no, there couldn't be a bigger picture happening..!! She really irritated me, I felt like she hasn't grown at all from the first book and she is so angry and distrustful and makes stupid, immature decisions. I am really disappointed with how the author has continued with her character and most of the book, I literally wanted to slap Tempest across the face.
Pyre annoyed me in parts too.
This whole book just annoyed me. Did not enjoy at all.

‘Welcome to war, daughter of ours.’ - Madrid
Okay first up, way to drop a bomb in the final page! Lord have mercy. And now we have to patiently wait for The Heir?! Christ...
Temp and Pyre’s tension went up a whole 10 levels. If I could I’d lock those suckers in a room together and make them fight it out. Gosh I do love them though!
The characters in this series are some of my favourite characters ever and I think that’s one of the things that makes it so good. I love the side characters as much as Temp and Pyre! I’m going to need more of them all!

I have been impatiently waiting to read this book ever since reading The Hunt and I ended up devouring it within a day because it was SO GOOD I couldn’t put it down!!!
This series has so many elements that I love about it and it has definitely made it as one of my all-time favourites.
Tempest is an advocate for the innocent – she is on a mission to stop innocent people from being killed in the crossfire of the conflict between King Destin and the rebellion. Tempest is doing her best to navigate both sides of the incoming war. Tempest knows that the King is up to something and is a cruel and awful ruler. However, despite her confusing attraction to him, she isn’t so sure that the Jester should rule either.
Every interaction between Tempest and Pyre had me on the edge of my seat! Enemies to lovers is my favourite trope of all time and this one is one of the best written ones I’ve ever come across. It was so good to see their relationship develop a little, but I’m glad Temp hasn’t given in to him… yet.
There were so many twists and turns in this book that it had me guessing the entire way through. It was such a fast paced and thrilling book and I am dying to read the next one to find out what happens next!
*I was given an ARC for an honest review*

Could not put this down!! I absolutely live Temp and Pyre - this book has twists I did NOT expect and not did I love them. I also really enjoyed hearing her thought processes, her decisions made sense and I thought the other characters were awesome (definitely grew on me). I can’t wait for the next one!!

Again Frost captures your attention with a vice like grip and won't let go. The world's she creates are real and the characters have a depth. Cliffhangers I love, (don't hate me) Pyre and Tempest have a tension you could cut with a knife! More please.

This book was incredible. I loved it and the wait for book 3 might actually destroy me. We learnt so much in this instalment. My mind was blown several times and yet still so many things remain to be seen. Can’t wait for more of this world!!!

Was ok..bit short and didnt didnt match the standard of the first book.

Loved the first book.. and was eagerly awaiting this one but sadly i was disappointed.
This book was too short in my opinion and not enough happened apart from the same back n forth banter from the first book.
Also.. our female character while complaining about men and the lust for power and control seems just as ready to join the battle all with the belief that her intentions are more honourable and more worthy than Pyres. This belief that she knows his peoples needs better than he does is kinda arrogant and annoying when in actual fact she barely knows him..shes just kinda spent the better half of two books being Judgemental and assuming.
Not sure if i will follow along for the next book.
Loved Pyre even as annoying as he was.. loved his friends and family.. Loved our female Hounds family.. not so sure about her though.

It was okay but a bit predicatble
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 November 2020Verified Purchase
Read book 1 and it was quite good 2 also entertaining. I found this predictable but easy reading. The fox ears on the guy in this is not a good look even in my imagination. I just cant see it working.. in fact i don't like it. I also don't like his language a lot of the time, the words he is given to speak. He isn't attractive as a character. The girl is the usual overly strong, plucky, beautiful and steel like in manner. Books are full of them, all much the same. There is a third book to come but not sure I will run to buy it unless loads of good reviews and a lot of surprises. Mostly know what is going to happen in these first two books. Its an easy read and relaxing. Well done for creating the story. Just think easier to kill the king and put his daughter in charge. think everyone will clap the killer. Job done!!

An engaging read with interesting, likable characters. Worth a read. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
