Molly Graham, a registrar at the Museum of Literature in New York City, is not a fairy-tale person. But, along with her best friend [and co-worker] Briana Cho, she’s decked out as a regency-period costume for the Museum’s Valentine’s Day Gala to open their Jane Austen exhibit.
When she stumbles over Albert George . . . hiding out in her tiny office . . . she finds herself charmed by the introverted academic. Soon Molly finds herself in a relationship that causes her to reconsider her staunch refusal to believe in happily-ever-after.
And then Albert vanishes.
Concerned, Molly tries tracking him down and learns that there was no Albert George affiliated with the university. Devastated, Molly tries to put the whole affair behind her.
But what will happen when she returns the borrowed Austen collection to England and discovers the truth about Albert George?
=========
With a strong sense of place and well-developed, nuanced characters, this novella hits all the right notes. The plot, tying itself to books and bibliophiles, puts a new spin on a tried-and-true premise and, with appealing characters, pulls the reader into the telling of the tale.
The characters are believable and both “sides” are skillfully presented . . . Molly feels betrayed, Al just wants to explain, and the unfolding story offers readers a few surprises along its way to that much-anticipated happily ever after.
The sweet story speaks to the heart, celebrating the joy of finding that one special person, that elusive meant-to-be relationship. It’s guaranteed to leave readers with a smile in their hearts.
Highly recommended.
