To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I've got the book. I have installed RUST, written the "Hello World.rs" and compiled and run it...it works. Now I have installed CARGO. It just keeps an working. The best part is, I am not out of chapter one and there are another 19 chapters. The book is SUBSTANTIAL. So far its easy reading, sample code on every page and no academic fluffiness to be seen. The online RUST documentation is great (very similar to book) but I can read the book in bed or out in sun and take a break from the screen.
I've only just begun the process of learning Rust but this book has been great. I've been programming computers for more than 30 years and while this book has all the basics it's not boring. It moves just fast enough to keep me interested and slow enough for me to make sure I understand the concepts. Awesome!
The book itself is great, I would rate it 5/5. Unfortunately, something is wrong with the material used to make the outer cover of the book. Over time it seems to become dirty and sticky. I tried cleaning it, but didn't have much luck.
This book should be owned by anyone attempting to learn Rust. The narrative of the book is concise, topical, and articulate. A large number of youtube videos covering Rust reference this book and give it an almost gospel status (perhaps deservedly).
I'm very satisfied with the book. unfortunately after two weeks the cover fell off... so I had to take a star away for that; very odd first book I've ever had that did that... i think I'll avoid no starch press in the future
Concise and plainly written, this book is a great resource to have while learning Rust. My only complaint is the book cover has separated from the spine but that's probably from rigorous wear and tear.
