Not much to say about the drive that’s not already said: it’s small, well made, fairly expensive than external hdd, but MUCH faster. Comes with x1 USB C-C cable, and x1 USB 3-C cable.

Only complaint is my box arrived pretty crushed, but thankfully the drive itself wasn’t damaged. All sectors checked out on testing.

I haven't given a 5/5 tonight, so here goes, this is it 5/5!
I have 6, yes six! 2TB Samsung T3 drives which are still perfect! I never upgraded to the T5 drives, they just weren't good enough for the money. Then the T7 came out and I knew after consuming lots of reviews, that it was time to spend some coin again. So far I own four T7 2TB drives. You can read all the reviews for the tech info on the flash storage, but these are another quality product from Samsung. They come in great colourful, hardwearing, alloy shells, so you can buy one for each purpose. They out bling anything else and are the perfect fit to have next to Apple. There is no skimping on product extras here either, with both USB-C to USB-A cable as well as USB-C to USB-C cable.
If they are on sale, grab two! 5/5

The T7 came in a nicely sealed box. I was quite surprised that the product was manufactured in South Korea.
The box includes 2 USB cables, one manual, and the T7 device.
It comes with 1 USB-C to USB-C cable, capable of delivering up to 10Gbps, and a USB-C to USB 3 cable.
Both cables are about 40 cm long and the construction is very well built. I have no doubt they will last many years unless I exert some great physical abuse. Both cables fit very snuggly in the T7 body. Even if you are the type of person who likes to hang the SSD in the mid-air, I am certain that the device won't fall off unless you intentionally pull it off.
The device is very light. According to Samsung, T7 only weight 58 grams. It is a size of a credit card and about the same thickness of an iPhone 8. The SSD is enclosed in a solid metal body. I believe the metal body was used to dissipate heat faster to reduce throttling caused by heat.
The main reason why I purchased T7 without the fingerprint sensor is because of the price difference for technology that I will not be using. In order to use the fingerprint sensor, you need to encrypt the device using Samsung's application. The Samsung application will do the hardware encryption, which was notoriously known for its vulnerability to attackers. I am sure that Samsung fixed this bypass but I will stick to the more secure APFS encryption.
I had some trouble installing the Samsung application on my Mac. When I launched the application, the software was not able to recognize my SSD. After many troubleshooting, I found out the Samsung SSD had to be formatted in APFS (non-encrypted) file system in order to be recognized. After formatting, I was able to do the hardware encryption with the application.

The performance of the device was solid. When hardware encrypted, it had no performance hit compared to having no encryption. However, after using the device for 30 minutes, I have noticed some degradation in performance due to throttling caused by heat. On average, it was hitting 890MB write and 900MB read speed. With some throttling, this number went down to 850MB wite but still respectable 900MB read speed.
With Apple's APFS Encryption, the performance had about 20 to 23 percent hit.

Compared to my SanDisk Extreme SSD, the device is slightly cooler to touch. Form factors are about same, where SanDisk is slightly longer but narrower compared to Samsung T7.

Overall, given the robust construction, solid performance, and small form factor, I am giving it 5 stars.

This drive is frustrating. Everything about is amazing except when you need it to be. It transfers files blazing fast and is so small and portable. However, do not buy this if you need to read/write from it continuously. The drive will consistently crash and disconnect from your system about every hour if you use it consistently. Very frustrating when trying to use it as a game drive or if you wanted to edit footage off of it.

Update: Drive needs more power than is supplied over my USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port. Had to buy a powered adapter to make it work which is very annoying but at least it's a solution for anyone that encounters a similar issue.

Been a Samsung T5 owner for a while, and couple other SSDs.
Was excited that Samsung got a USB 3.2 SSD, which should be much faster.

NOTE: If you want to be able to take full benefit of the T7 Drives, You need to have USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 on your PC/Laptop!! Without the USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, it will perform pretty much like the T5.

I have tested on my 2019 Surface Laptop 3 with USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 support. I was able to get the full speed from the best, and also copying files to it. Seems to be very fast!! But!!! As the file gets larger, the speed/performance started to decrease. This is not noticeable if the file size is smaller than 1gb, but once the file gets larger then 1gb, the larger they get, the worse the performance gets. I have also tested the T7 on my 2014 Macbook Pro, with USB 3.0. The speed test shows that its about the same speed as the T5.

Bottom line, When transferring smaller files, the T7 is super fast!!! As file size gets bigger, especially lager than 1gb files, you will start to see some performance/speed decrease. Since I do a lot of video editing, and files can be huge, this can be a problem for me. I think I will wait to upgrade to the newer T7 drives. Until the speed can be improved, and more stable.

Life changing! Get my IMac a second life! Here’s how:

I’ve buy this hard drive because my 2015 21.5” IMac was getting so slow, it would take literally 1-2 minutes to open an app from the dock. I tough cloning my internal hard drive to this little magic SSD external drive would be tougher. Using CarbonCopy software it take about an hour or so. The result is awesome! My Mac is now like a brand new, an even faster! It’s comparable to the MacBook I own since macbook use flashdisk, it’s very similar. T7 hard drive itself is perfect. It’s small, light and super FAST! In addition, it look super with it aluminum casing. It comes with both USB C to USB C cable but for older computer like my iMac 2015, it comes also with a USB C to USB A cable (standard USB). Since USB A 3.0+ Has a 5gb/sec data transfer ratio, it work perfectly fast. Don’t hesitate to give your Mac a boost! You won’t regret it. For people who may wonder the procedure to transfer all their data, here it is:
1-Download CarbonCopy software (free 30 trial, no signup required)
2-open disk utility app
3-Erase your new T7 SSD to AFPS with GUILD partition. (If you don’t see this option, you need to change the view option on the top list to select “view all devices”
4-Open CarbonCopy (you can do a time machine back up before heading to carbon copy for more safety, I didn’t.)
5-Select your HDD drive and the destination SSD (your T7). On Catalina, you may have 2 separate disk, with one call DATA. That’s the new way for MacOS to separate your data from the main system. First launch the main HD copy, then when it’s completed, launch the data one. You’ll get everything transfert.
6- boot your Mac pressing alt command on launch. Choose your SSD drive. If it’s not there (highly possible) restart your Mac in recovery, pressing cmd+R. Once on the recovery menu, choose install MacOS Catalina (or other) then select your SSD drive.
7- Let MacOS install.
8- Your IMac should boot automatically to your new drive with a super fast interface!
9- Enjoy the rapidity!
10- You can erase your old hard drive to MacOS extend journalised and still use your hard drive to stock more stock!
