Great album. Love Isbell. Not a knock on the music at all, but the sleeve the record in came in pretty noticeably damaged. It's blown out at the top. Not the first time I've had an issue ordering from vinyl on amazon, but this one is probably the worst case.
As others have said, this record deserves 5 stars, the issue is the pressing. Avoid the Pink special edition at all costs, the vinyl is noisy and skips incessantly, copmletely unlistenable. Worst part is I can't even return it because I thought the problem was related to my needle and by the time I was able to replace that the return window had passed. Buy this album, but not the special edition.
I got a bad pressing. It skips at the same exact time on "Flying Over Water." It was so aggravating I tried the sandpaper hack because the record was unlistenable and ended up scratching it more. I didn't mind taking this drastic step at this point. O well, ended up throwing it away. Hoping to buy a newer one soon since this is one of my favorite albums but disappointed with the first one I got.
First of all, the album is worth 5 stars. It has some of the best songs written for the last few years.
I started listening to the record on Spotify and because I fell in love with it so much I decided to buy the vinyl version.
Big mistake! The vinyl looks great but it skips on at least two places and the sound is at is best casette quality. Muffled sound without any bass or clear highs. My turntable is in great shape with a new cartridge and all my other albums sound great so it is defineatly the vinyl which is of bad quality.
Nothing wrong with the music, but this was ordered as a gift and was damaged. The recipient didn't tell me about the damage until it was too late to return for a replacement. . . so not very happy with the shipping and handling portion of this order.
I love new music. My wife and I support live new music and up and coming new artist almost every weekend. Jason Isbell is a good singer and song writer but if I had known he would use four letter words and take The Lord's name in vain on this cd I would have never bought it. I could have bought a Rap cd if I had wanted to hear that. It amazes me that a great talented artist would stoop to that level. You can be great without having lyrics like that. I like to introduce my children and gr children to new music and have done that all their life. I will just have to wait on a new Jack Johnson cd to share with them. If you don't mind hearing God's name taken in vain buy this cd. It is great new music but for that.
