This really makes ur system blazing fast.
I purchased a HP 15 laptop which has an 8th Gen i5 processor with 8gb ram and win 10. I was really disappointed with performance. Later I realized the 5400 rpm HDD is the bottleneck. I purchased this SSD in the sale and decided to install it myself. Below are the installation steps for hp 15 series laptop, in case anyone needs them:
1) Open up the 9 screws at the back of the back panel.
Remove the battery.
Remove the optical drive.
Open the back panel(Check YouTube video by searching "hp15 SSD M2 installation").

2) Now add the m2 SSD in the slot provided. The screw would already be present. Just remove it, attach the SSD and again screw it. Now fix the back cover , battery, drive and screw the back lid.

3) Now start windows, go to disc management(from search box) and check for this drive. It should reflect. Now make it active/online by right mouse click.

4. Download Samsung data migration for SSD software by searching on google.

5) Open it and clone the os drive to this SSD.

6) Restart the system and enter bios setting by pressing f10.

7) Go to advanced -> Boot configure and select this drive in the first position by using f5-f6 buttons. Remember to save it here.

8) Now again save and exit.

9) Now the system will boot with the ssd.

Chose Samsung over other brands because Samsung seems to be a leader in performance & reliability from the benchmark scores & reviews available in the internet. Crucial MX500 was a tempting alternative but the uncertainty about the after sales service of Crucial products in India let me to go ahead with Samsung.

My laptop is Asus Vivobook K510UQ (Core i5 8250U+8GB+1TB HDD). Asus India has poor technical documentation about its own products. Their support wing says that an M.2 SSD upgrade is not possible for this model and they are not even sure of a RAM upgrade when there are slots for both available in the laptop! I have seen brands like HP & Dell having complete technical info available in public - like service manuals, product specification documents etc. Asus India has to improve a lot on this front. What do they lose in helping a customer to upgrade something that he owns?

I did not believe the Asus reply and went ahead to buy the SSD as I saw people upgrading laptops with the same motherboard model (X510UQ) in other countries, via YouTube.

Adding the M.2 SSD is a simple procedure, however lack of a screw can be problem for some. The SSD was recognized without any problem. Samsung Data Migration app can be used for cloning your OS drive (or partition). Cloning process is simple and fast. Booting to SSD instead of HDD can be a problem for people with laptops.

Ideally, as per tech advice from various forums, after the cloning process one has to shut down the computer and disconnect the HDD so that the BIOS will have only one option to boot from (i.e. our new SSD cloned with OS). But disconnecting HDD is not a simple procedure in laptops as in desktops where one can easily unplug the SATA cable.

I do not know what one can do in laptops to ensure that it boots from SSD instead of HDD in the next boot. In my laptop the BIOS boot menu did not recognize the Windows boot manager in the SSD although it recognized the SSD as a SATA drive. The boot menu showed only the Windows boot manager present in the HDD. So there was no option to boot directly into SSD from BIOS.

But I had a dual boot setup with Ubuntu in my HDD. So I booted to Ubuntu and deleted the Windows OS partitions in HDD. Then going back to the BIOS I could see the Boot option from SSD. And it worked.

Start ups, shut downs, restarts, app launch times, simultaneous app launches, Start menu searches - everything is faster and the difference is noticeable. No lags, no more waiting for Disk usage to settle down - makes the experience a lot more smoother.

Samsung over WD Blue or Crucial MX500?
The real world performance difference between these three may not be noticeable at all considering how close they stand in benchmark tests. So it's totally a decision you have to make based on your budget.

Well well well, to everyone saying their i5 is slow, or windows 10 lags, or something like that about the boot time or in general, your (and mine till a few days ago) hdd is the problem, my laptop now boots up within 10 seconds and everything is ready to use as soon as it does. Click on that visual studio icon, opens in <3 sec. Click on chrome, start typing in the address bar :). Evo series delivers the best a SATA disk can, that’s what defines it over the other SSDs on offer. IMPORTANTLY, The speeds offered by this m.2 are faaast and potent enough to keep your processor full even if it’s an i7. If you go ahead and spend some more for nvme, you won’t get any difference in performance(except maybe disk to disk transfer) because the processor becomes a bottleneck at those speeds and your ssd is literally waiting to push things into it. I think the nvme could be useful only if your processor is fast enough to compete with it.
Coming back to evo 860, go blindly to buy this thing. And not to mention, the data migration(including OS and apps) is made ‘absurdly’ easy with the Samsung data migration tool (30 mb application, download directly from Samsung website). I have spent some money in my previous laptops on ram upgrade and so, and I feel this upgrade to ssd is waaay useful than that if your ram is already over 4 gb.

Long story short - I bought a windows laptop - with i5 8th generation latest, upgraded to 16 GB RAM - but still it used to hang a lot, slow response to even opening a folder, high disk usage etc.

At last I decided to upgrade with SSD. Now my windows is super fast. Boot in seconds, system ready in seconds. Now I love it more than macbook air.

About Cloning your OS from HDD to new SSD - Use 'Macrium Reflect' for cloning. Works like charm. No issues at all.

Now windows boots & ready to work just within 20 seconds. I repeat, within 20 seconds and you can start working.

In short, this 6k ssd saved my 60k investment in windows laptop.

You can't seem to make it 3 clicks these days without being blasted by ads or reviews for Samsung SSD's. They constantly get high marks in reviews so why am I saying avoid this? The long story short is no support, no warranty. Tried to register the drive for support, no dice. Support is worthless and the type of canned and parroted responses that become tech jokes. Every nightmare review of failed Samsung drive owners I read I ended up experiencing (minus the inability to return). Samsung might be the popular kid right now but the popular kid is normally a douchebag.

I will also note you can find a lot of negative reviews online but rarely do you have the context of who wrote them. Does this person know how to build a machine or was this some fool who barely understands sending email who tried to install a m.2 SSD on a floppy drive ribbon cable? I've been an OEM in the past and building machines for over 20 years. I've been using machines since cassette tape storage and I've worked with guys who used to program computer punch cards. Bottom line is I know what I'm doing, I know how to install, to check for compatibility and how to deal with issues. Samsungs support was so infuriating I'll never buy one of their products again. I say this knowing most companies support these days is terrible. I've also built so many machines and used so many parts I've had run-ins with almost every company but Samsung pretty much took the "suck" crown on this one.
