It will take alot of time to migrate to a smaller SSD because you can't migrate just the OS.

The Samsung 970 Evo is beast. I ordered it and it arrived under 2 days later! I would have given this a 5 star, but it was hard to find a good migration program but in the end I ended up using Samsung's migration tool. This SSD is surprisingly tiny, and ultra fast. My PC boots in about 15 seconds including BIOS time. The only bad thing was that you cannot migrate only the OS so I had to use an extra hard drive to move all my games over so the OS would fit since I moved from a 1TB HDD to a 250GB 970 Evo SSD. I highly reccommend this SSD to someone who is first going to use it in their build, and if you are migrating and do not have the time to move everything, go for the one which has the same space as your source disk. In the end, it was worth it since it's ultra fast. I just shoulded of bought this when I built my PC.

Richtig schnelle SSD M.2, die ruck-zuck in den Rechner eingebaut war; natürlich müssen die ensprechenden Slots dafür auf dem Motherboard vorhanden sein. Hat man den kleinen Speicherriegel zum ersten Mal in der Hand, glaubt man kaum, dass er eine so starke Leistung (ggf. richtige Einstellung im UEFI/BIOS beachten) performt. In Zusammenhang mit dem der Software Samsung Magician für sämtliche Einstellungen u. Geschwindigkeitsprüfungen derzeit wohl die schnellsten SSDs dieser Bauform. Die Aufspielung des Betriebsystems Windows 10 pro verlief schnell und ohne Probleme; von einer Migration von einer SSD mit dem Betriebsystem zur SSD M.2 habe ich dabei Abstand genommen, auch wenn von Samsung mittels Software Data Migration angeboten. Wer noch etwas unsicher ist über den richtigen Einbau sollte auch vor Kauf ausgiebige Testberichte lesen; gut sind auch Videos dazu im Netz. Die Zukunft bilden also demnach SSD/SSD M.2 und so werden langsame 3,5" mechanische Festplatten wohl am Markt immer weniger produziert und verkauft. Fazit: Lohnt sich!

Linux Mint 19 install as OS and bcache drive

Linux Mint 19 sees this drive natively. You can simply boot the live USB stick and install Mint straight onto it.

However I was a bit more creative. After installing I used gparted to shrink the main EXT4 partition to give me a separate 80GB partition.

Then using bcache tools I set this 80GB as a caching partition and set my 2TB drive as the backing drive.

I then mapped my /home onto my 2TB drive since /home is the only place where I'm likely to need the extra space, now says 1.8TB free.

This gives me all the advantages of having Linux on the NVMe and makes the HDD seem like NVMe speeds.

I got this one after installing an Evo 860 SSD in my PC.
On the SSD I have Windows 10 for games and other native programs, and on the NVME drive I installed macOS mojave (hackintosh).

The installation process is really simple and straightforward, got it done in under 5 minutes.
Cloned my mac drive with SuperDuper and in 10 minutes my computer was up and running.

The speeds are as advertised, everything opens in a blink of an eye.

Really happy with it, cannot recommend it enough!

Blazing fast boot/desktop usage drive!

I remember the days when I used to dread Windows updates and restarts, postponing the required restarts after installing certain programs or drivers, or postponing Windows updates, so I wouldn't have to wait so long to get back up and running and doing what I was doing.

I've never felt too bothered to postpone anything ever since I went SSD, and even less so now that I went NVMe. It's almost as fast as waking my computer from sleep! Not to mention general desktop use is quick and snappy. Programs open nigh instantly, exploring in file explorer never loads or slows down, my pictures folder takes a mere second to sort by date when I open it, and it has 1000's of pictures in it. With my old sata SSD (sandisk ssd plus), sorting my picture folder took around 10 seconds.

Another thing to mention, is that aesthetically the 970 Evo and 970 Pro are pleasing. The PCB is black, and the label is black with stark, smart-looking text and logo that doesn't stand out like a sore thumb on my black motherboard.

Easy OS Clone

Easy to fit provided you have the correct standoff and screw that comes with the motherboard.
Samsung cloning software worked a treat.
Only problems related to
1) Making sure I had latest BIOS
2) Initialising the new SSD as the same type as the old (in my case MBR) otherwise the PC will BSOD on startup. Change to GPT later if you really need it.
3) Remembering, after the clone transfer shuts down the PC to disconnect the old C: drive to force the BIOS to boot off the new SSD (and then rebooting and connecting the old drive).

Major speed improvement over traditional HDD rather less over a SATA SSD.
