It's better than the old version Samsung bar because when the transfer slows down it doesn't completely stop for 5 seconds. However it still does slow down quite a bit when transferring lots of small files. It seems to average about 22MB per second. My old SanDisk extreme does a constant 50MB per second.

It seems that nobody makes really good USB sticks anymore.
But I'm still quite happy with this unit considering the robustness of the metal case which is probably what I like most about it, and it's a reasonable price. I wish its write speed was faster but it's not slow, it's just not super fast, but I don't think there's anything faster these days. I will probably buy another one.

Didn't last long ... about 4 months and now the computer (tried on 2) can't reconfigure it .... not very happy with it. And have no way to get a replacement from Amazon because if it is longer than 30 days ... bummer.

Great USB drive. I used a few inux applications to make sure it was an authentic device and not a chinese knock off.
I've yet to use all the available space on the disk, but the speed of copying large video files onto it has been pretty darn impressive.

Very fast, at least compared to my older USB drives.

This USB is amazing. fantastic transfer speeds and a really solid and slim build that's very appealing to the eye. Although while it is stated to be 256GB in size, as you can see by the image I provided, it is actually only 239GB as opposed to the advertised 256GB. So just be aware of that before buying if that is at all a concern, otherwise if not, I say absolutely buy it because it's a really solid product.

Small and a large hole for a lanyard. Perfect for taking files around. Formatted in ex-fat instead of FAT32 which means it can handle very large files! As it's USB 3.1 it transfers very fast.

The Samsung BAR Plus USB 3.1 flash drive has a very nice compact metallic design.

In the description, there is a lack of information on writing speed performance.

So here are my speed test results that I get using the Samsung BAR Plus 64GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive with an ASMedia USB 3.1 controller, a Renesas USB 3.0 controller or a VIA VL805 USB 3.0 controller.

Like advertised, it has a fast reading speed of 268 MB/s with ASMedia USB 3.1 controller, and 250 MB/s with Renesas or VIA USB 3.0 controllers.

But a very SLOW writing speed of 34 MB/s maximum no matter which USB controller is used. Very disappointing for a USB 3.1 flash drive.

Same speed results using the exFAT or NTFS file systems on the flash drive.

If you want very fast writing speed, get a SanDisk Extreme PRO USB 3.1 Flash Drive which gives me 350 MB/s of reading speed, and 260 MB/s of writing speed using an ASMedia USB 3.1 controller. It is worth the extra cost to get a real USB 3.1 flash drive performance.

Bought three of these Samsung BAR plus in 64GB, two for key chain use, one to have handy on my desk. Made sure Amazon was the seller to help avoid any risk of non-genuine Samsung parts. Just arrived and burned each one in briefly using CrystalDiskMark, so I could both be sure each worked and compare speeds between the units. All three tested within about 2% of each other on each benchmark. Importantly, the sequential read speeds exceeded the claimed 200 MB/s in each case, averaging 224 MB/s. Writes were all 34MB/s. All tests were conducted on my laptop, a Lenovo Flex5, on a USB 3.0 port. Clearly the sequential read speeds take advantage of USB3.0 bandwidth.

Overall very pleased for the price and the key chain friendly stainless steel casing. Note I did put a cover on the USB end of each, using the covers from Honbay 40pcs Semitransparent Black and Clear Plastic USB Male Anti-Dust Plug Stopper Cap Cover . I wanted just a bit more protection when used on key chains from dents and the elements. These Honbay covers fit snugly yet come off relatively easily. These feel like TPR, which is good for grip and flexibility.

Pros
+Fairly fast overall for the price, and clearly very fast at sequential reads.
+Good looking, tough stainless steel body
+Great form factor for handling - only as wide as a USB port so they won't cause any interference with adjacent ports, a bit longer than the really small USB drives designed to stay mounted all the time, but therefore very easy to get in and out, especially with the raised end near the lanyard hole providing a nice grip.
+Hangs just fine on my key chain, a Maxpedition Gear Keyper Maxpedition Gear Keyper, Foliage Green using a FREEkey ring, the absolutely most secure rings you can buy in my experience FREEkey Accessory Ring Spares, 10 Count

Cons
-wish for faster write speeds
-gets warm but not so hot as to be a concern so far

I was a flash memory process engineer who designed flash memory technology.
Samsung had been our benchmark because it’s durable and fast. So I put 5/5 for durability based on previous experiments I did.

The product itself, physically is a chunk of metal. Looks good and sturdy.
It’s warm to touch when writing and reading but the heat either stay inside and degrade the flash cells or it gets out. I prefer the heat out.

Very satisfy with the product.

La compré hace un mes. Funciona perfecto. Tiene resistencia al agua, y magnetismo. Es cierto se calienta pero lo que he leído de todas las memorias vendidas en Amazon es que TODAS se calientan. Así que ese argumento no es justificante para no comprarla. Es muy rápida al pasar archivos así que el que se caliente no es ningún problema ya que la ocupas y quitas rápido y sin problemas. Si eres una persona común como yo que sólo la usa para pasar archivos ocasionales y con conocimientos básicos de tecnología, esta usb es para ti. Además de ser marca Samsung. Si eres de los que deja la usb por horas conectada, no creo que encuentres una que no se caliente.

I lost my old metal USB from Samsung that was a 64GB. I figured this USB since it is new would be just as good so I purchased a 128GB one. Boy, was I wrong. My old metal Samsung USB would do read/write speeds consistently at 20-30MB/s and it was great. This one does 800 KB/s to 1.2 MB/s. It's horrible. Gosh, what a terrible USB drive.

Buy the old Samsung USB. I linked it below because this new one is trash.
