SanDisk 500 GB Extreme Pro Portable SSD leverages our lightning-fast, in-house NVMe technology to dramatically increase transfer speeds to up to 1050 MB/s letting you move files faster and edit right from the drive. Its ruggedized case helps keep your content protected no matter where you take it. And it's no problem to deliver files when you have up to 2TB of space for a full library of content in a pocket-sized design. Whether you're working on PC or Mac computers and with USB Type C and Type-A connectors, the Extreme PRO SSD works the way you work, as fast as you do.

What is not fantastic is the awful cable that comes with it. Within 2 days of use, with 240gb of data on it that I was taking home to backup the drive started disconnecting and reconnecting rapidly, ultimately corrupting the drive. A day of attempting to reformat the drive just resulted in the drive disconnecting, messing the drive up further. Eventually switching the cable to a type c I had lying around I was able to format the drive and return it to its original state.
Firstly, the free software that comes with the disk does not support sync, you have to pay to upgrade. So, I paid my £14.99.
This is when my problems started. Firstly, the sync button is greyed out and will not work and Datavault 7.0 still says that I must upgrade to a premium version. I send a support request and get a reply that there are bugs, but it should still work, it doesn’t. Then, I get a second email telling me to download the software again, which initially seems to have solved the problem, so I persist. I download the portable version onto the SSD and this now says “Full version activated and I can sync a folder, whoopee! So, I create a folder and sync this with a folder on my PC; I then disconnect the SSD from my laptop and wait 5 minutes then connect the SSD back to the laptop and try to open the folder. I now get a message “This vault could not be loaded, it may be located on another computer or the original Secure Folder has been manually removed”. I cannot get to my files on the SSD so to say I’m frustrated is an understatement, hence I decided to write this review to warn others.
In conclusion, if you want to sync files between your PC / laptop to a SSD and have them secure then look elsewhere. If all you want to do is backup software to a fast SSD and you’re happy with the free software then you might consider the ScanDisk.
had i got speeds a bit closer to the advertised speed of 1050 MB/s perhaps 700 or 800 MB/s i may of kept it, but for the price i payed for it i expected better, so i sent it back and may look elsewhere for another one in the future
its a shame as the drive was a tidy little device
another point was that the instructions were tiny and i found it hard to read even with a magnifying glass , also the cables were to short i had sit it on top of a plastic box so it would reach my computer socket
I use this on both my Apple MacPro and Windows 10 machine. On both the speeds are incredible.
I thought I would really try the write speeds and I plugged this into a Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera (BMPCC) which shoots incredibly large 4K and 6K files. To my surprise it had no problems, most drives would have melted like ice cream on the 2 days of summer we get in the UK.
I notice the price dropped so I bought another one as these are stonking, can’t recommend enough.
