Fascinating read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2021Verified Purchase
This is a super absorbing book that really makes you think about what really makes us tick: what I love is that you can get as much out of the really well presented, carefully curated and researched bits about getting the best out of everyday life as you want: I’ve already started reading in areas that before reading this book I hadn’t even thought about before (the infographics are really nicely put together too). Even if the science that obviously underpins the whole book sounds like a turn off, it really isn’t – this is like a book full of super engaging mini QI segments, fun, accessible and above all, insightful. Hugely recommended!

Don't Purchase the Kindle Version
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 January 2021Verified Purchase
I had read good things about this book so purchased the Kindle version. I'm sure in print it looks very colourful and engaging but the kindle version is just awful. The writing is too small so you have to zoom in and then move around the page, which is very clunky. There are lots of info graphics which you have to zoom into and move around the page to see. I gave up after about 5 minutes as it is a truly awful user experience and the first time I have come across this on the Kindle.
I have given up and requested a refund as it is unreadable. Buy the book by all means just don't waste your time or money on the Kindle version.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. Engaging and insightful. I would recommend to both adults and children interested in science. This is a must read. Hard to put down.

A "celebration of life" and a terrific read - so informative and helpful!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 January 2021Verified Purchase
There are so many questions in daily life that we never quite manage to find the answers to, yet ponder endlessly. What's best to eat for breakfast? Why can I not resist sweet treats? What causes road rage? How much water is the right amount to drink each day? Is an afternoon nap ever a good idea? And is sleep really that important?
These questions, and so many more (219, to be precise!) are answered by Dr Stu Farrimond in the engaging, informative yet also highly accessible and entertaining style that readers of his past books and popular science blog have come to expect. And if this is your first encounter with the author, don't be at all concerned by the "science" part of the title: as he explains in the foreword, science gives richness and meaning to our daily lives, but it doesn't have to be shrouded in jargon and mumbo-jumbo.
This fantastic book guides readers through all aspects of daily life, broken down into morning, afternoon, evening and night, to help all of us make positive choices to help our sleep, work, diet, rest, relationship and exercise patterns. Supported by colourful infographics, quotes and bitesize information throughout, it's a swift page-turner that also provides plenty of opportunities to delve much deeper.

Superb Book!!!

This is a super book , it is set out in 3 sections , Morning, Afternoon and Evening so if you want to find for example the best time to have your first coffee .. that is in the morning section or the best time to go to sleep and relax obviously in the evening. I have learnt a few things I didn't know, like the breakfast choice...I will be changing that now to a more healthier cereal and the best way to burn calories!! Great book not only for the New Year but to have out on your coffee table to dib in and out.
