5.0 out of 5 starsIt's good

It's a hard drive. It holds information. In this case, close to 8Tb of information (less considering you have to format it). It's a CMR drive, so it's a decent speed. I added this to my server, and so far no complaints.

It's been added to a pool drive, so I haven't noticed specifically anything outstanding or poor about the server since this has been added. It works fine, and hopefully will continue to work for a while to come.

It did come very well packaged, with the drive suspended inside a wrap around cardboard case. The packaging was one of the best I've seen and certainly protected the drive during transport.

1.0 out of 5 starsITEM ARRIVED FAULTY. BLACK & WHITE LABEL & PRINTED RECERTIFIED.
Reviewed in Australia on 7 January 2021
Not what I was expecting.
Was suppose to be new , Not recertified ( refurbished ).

Worse it arrived dead, possible damaged through transit. HDD Kept on quietly stopping repeatedly.
Not registering on 2 systems and 1 computer is brand new.
Very likely miss head alignment.
IT's a shame though. Ho well better luck next time.
Hopfully I can get refunded, we'll see.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sloooooow!

It's been a very long time since I trusted Seagate but I thought I'd try this out after WD's SMR-gate (and it was on special)

This model crawls along just over 100MB/s - I have some skanky old laptop rescue drives that are faster! Pretty hard to trust Seagate on their MTBF specs given these are meant to run at 180MB/s.

I'll be sticking to WD Red Pros I think...

4.0 out of 5 stars Long returns process
Reviewed in Australia on 24 August 2021

Finally, after ordering on the 15th of July, I have a working HDD in my system.
Original HDD that shipped from the US was DOA. Chose to RMA it directly through Seagate, assuming it would be faster than trying to return it all the way back to the states.
The replacement drive finally arrived yesterday, and worked immediately upon installing it in the new system.
I will give Seagate kudos for their ease of return of the old one, but the shipping experience was terrible both on the original and the replacement drive. I work in retail, and fully understand that shipping during covid is terrible, but this was insane. Watching the tracking, it went in and out of China several times during transit.
I've used many Seagate and WD HDDs and this experience hasn't turned me off the brand, but it has definitely been the most frustrating experience I've had with the company to date.

Unit was dead on arrival. Only packaged in a couple layers of bubble wrap. Manufacturer's website says their HDDs should never be posted only in bubble wrap.

The hard disk was making a terrible noise at boot up and is not detected by the system.
Advice: Do not buy Hard disks via post.
Update: Took over a month after returning the item and 2 phone calls to customer service to get the refund processed. Extremely disappointed with the whole experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars Noisy - FAR more so than the WD80EFAX
Reviewed in Australia on 26 September 2021

Installed this into a NAS; a-ok except wow this drive is noisy. It's installed in the NAS in a closet, yet I can hear it chattering away from clear down the hallway in another room. I have a WD WD80EFAX in the same NAS and the WD is nowhere near as loud.

It also runs a little warmer than the 4GB drives it replaces (e.g. 37 vs 31 C) but not as much as the WD80EFAX at 41C.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, does the job very well.

I think this is my third or 4 water pressure washer, (the previous one cheap brand that they don't do the job properly, I believe the advertised pressure is not even close) .
With the Bosch High Pressure Washer AdvancedAquatak 140, the job get done well and in half the time.
Best buy so far, it looks well made and have a good warranty.
Its a bit heavy, but maybe that's why it so good!

Should have come with a complimentary set of ear muffs.
Performance in other areas is okay.
