Great product for the money - it has all of the motion detection and scheduling features of the more expensive models yet is very reasonable in price. I used it to replace my old DVR that stopped reading my Hard Drive and it worked like a charm. Also the App is very easy to setup and use - it even allows for watching from outside my home WiFi network which is something I didn't expect from this price point. The design is also very compact and came with all the accessories (Ethernet, HDMI, mouse hard drive cable) except the hard drive which I transferred from my old DVR.

I'm not sure why there are any reviews other than 5 stars for this product?? Maybe it's just me but I consider getting a network video recorder which records video from 8 different IP cameras in 720P HD video for under £60 to be amazing value..!! And I also have to disagree with the person who said you can't get an HD output to your TV set or monitor...err yes you can! The maximum resolution of the video out for this recorder is 1920x1080 which I believe is full HD...Anyway, enough said. I'd be happy to answer any questions on this device...

Bought this to replace a faulty Swann DVR. It was easy to install the hard drive. and set ups. Just plugged in the existing cameras and other items and it was working. The only problem I have is with getting the software to work on my MAC. Easy to set up my mobile phone and iPad.
The manual although helpful is a little difficult to follow sometimes because of the way it is written. I think it must have been translated and sometime-times it does not quite make sense.
I would recommend this product.

great replacement for an older system

I bought this to replace an old system that had stopped working. I needed an 8 camera system similar to the old one. i took the hard drive out of the old one and installed it. plugged it in to my cameras and started it and up. everything worked perfectly. I also like the fact that it was able to connect to my onvif cameras too. the interface is easy enough to follow and a firmer update was applied as i logged in. i use ivms software with it and it works great via this on my mac/ios/android devices. i tested the alarm/detection facilities and i'm pleased with the results.. it appears to be more accurate than the older £300 system that to replaced. the backups are working to my NAS system and internet connection is great for my needs... might get some new cameras for it as some of the cameras are beginning to show their age. I might upgrade to an 8+4 camera system by annke if its anything like this one.

Much better layout and features than my old DVR that packed up which was still in warranty but XVIM do not respond to any support requests.

I chose this brand because they seem to be responsive to any negative reviews and the features of the box are much superior to any other brand. I now have email motion notifications working, I can view cameras on Windows PC with software and via webpage and it works.

The only gripe I have with it is I have the motion detection sensitivity turned right down but I still keep getting lots of alerts. I have also set region-based motion detection set to block out the birds in the sky but to no avail.

I have rated motion detection at 3/5 stars for the lack of sensitivity control.
Overall it deserves the 5/5 stars for price quality and functionality.

EDIT:
I now rate motion detection at 0/5. With sensitivity turned all the way down and only a few select squares selected to detect motion I have just received 220 emails in the space of 7 hours notifying me that it is lightly raining, every single email was a false alert. You would expect the software to manage to determine the difference between rain and a person intruding surely? I mean each motion activation is activating 1 box at low sensitivity. Cant it be set so at least 4 or 9 boxes must be filled to activate?

This setup is now useless to me as I refuse to check my email 220 times in the space of 7 hours while it is only lightly raining. The software need updating, I like everything apart from the motion detection being far too sensitive.

I strongly advise the purchase of this product, I am operating 4 cameras for 24/7 and I have had 55 days of recording so far on this with its 264+ recording and it’s still going, no on my last dvr I only had 15 days worth of recording for the same set up, also the picture quality is great.
