Product description

Get the most out of your home audio system by ensuring the best connection from your speaker cable to your receiver with the Sewell deadbolt banana plugs. Using self crimping teeth These plugs provide a simple, secure, and low profile connection without requiring soldering or screws. These 1.6” inch plugs are extremely low profile making it so you can put your speakers or receiver closer to the wall. Unlike other banana plugs that use low quality metals like zinc alloy The Sewell deadbolt banana plugs use pure copper and high Quality brass with 24K Gold plating. Installation one of the best things about the deadbolt banana plugs is that installation is quick, secure, and requires no tools. Just follow these steps. Feed the cable through the bottom piece. Push the cable back over the teeth on the bottom piece. Screw the top piece to the bottom one. You're finished. All in all you should only need 10-20 seconds for this entire operation. What are banana plugs? Today, many electronics use the banana plug interface, also known as binding post (referring to This connection in its female form). this female binding post connection that accepts this banana plug is found commonly on virtually all audio/video receivers, speaker wall plates, and more. Banana plugs offer an alternative to inserting a bare speaker wire into the equipment. Often a bare speaker connection is not as reliable as a guaranteed banana plug connection. Wires tend to get pulled out or frizzy after time passes. Banana plugs require only one install, giving you a permanent and robust connector at the end of your speaker wire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!

I bought these Sewell deadbolts to connect my KEF 5.1 setup in Bi-Wired Configuration to my Sony STR-DN850 receiver and the have worked very well indeed and i'm really impressed with them.
fitting wire into them is very simple and very well designed. Firstly slide the deadbolt over the cable (Red to + or Black to -), strip about 6mm of plastic off the end of the cable then spread out the copper wire evenly so it looks like a chimney sweep then slide over the top part of the deadbolt and screw it onto the other section. if you stripped the wire back to far you may need to try again or push it down into the black section. once screwed down, the wire is very secure and has great contact with the gold connector.
when I was looking for a set of banana plugs I was worried that due to Bi-Wiring I would not be able to fit two cables into one deadbolt on the receiver end. However these did the job well and i managed to fit both of my 13 Gauge wires into one although I had to install them a little differently.
I stripped both wires back by about 2cm then twisted both together tightly so it was thin enough to fit through the hole in the deadbolt. Once it was pushed in tightly I untwisted the copper wire and trimmed it down to about 6mm and from there it was the same as a single wire.

The gold plated connectors are high quality and fit snugly into both my speakers and my receiver with no play at all.

As for sound, I think they definitely made the sound a bit nicer, however I mainly got these for the ease of connecting/disconnecting. Sewell do quite a few different types of banana plugs but these are amazing.. I definitely recommend them 100%

These banana plugs are a revalation, ive installed around 5 systems in the 25 years I've been installing for myself and the speaker connections were always a bone of contention. These take around 2 minutes a connection to fit, I have 2 cables a plug so takes a little longer, they are solid once in and i feel confident I'm not going to have any issues. I only wish I'd invented these 25 years ago! I would definately recommend these to anyone who has bled over the years trying to wire a standard banana plug and probably stabbed themselves with a screwdriver when tightening the screw.
