Product description
3D NAND Technology for Enhanced Reliability and Power Efficiency Applying the advanced 3D NAND flash, Ace A55 features higher reliability and better power efficiency than traditional SSDs equipped with 2D NAND flash. The A55 offers improved endurance and longer battery life that you're able to work longer without frequently recharge your laptop. High Transfer Speeds for Fast Start Up Powered by high quality controller and original synchronous NAND flash, the A55 delivers incredibly high transfer speeds that enable short boot time, fast application loading and quick file processing. SLC Cache Technology for Performance Boost and Longer Lifespan The A55 especially applies the "SLC Cache technology" that allows all data to be written in the SLC portion first and leads to higher peak writing performance. In addition, the technology can reduce write amplification and thus offer better endurance and longer lifespan of the SSD.

First, I must say that delivery was very fast, and I am happy about that. BUT.. I ran into problems straight away. It’s been a long time since I’ve had an issue such as this so here is what happened:
I noticed straight away upon powering up the computer there was a high pitched sound coming from the drive, something I have never heard coming from a SSD.
I couldn’t do a fresh install of Window;
I removed from the pc and noticed the drive was quite hot so I let it cool down.
Next PC I plugged it into recognised the drive briefly, but stopped responding while attempting to format in the Windows Disk Management utility. I let it go for about 15 minutes, hoping it would eventually start responding; that PC ended up requiring a hard reset, which I don’t really like doing as the PCs configured with a RAID, write caching disabled without a UPS.
Next, I connected the SSD to a USB SATA adapter, tried running some diagnostics software in a PXE without success. After I exhausted my diagnostics I came to the realisation that I unfortunately have a defective SSD.
I will hold off on further critique and judgments until I have a response from Silicon power.
I have not given up on the brand yet as it’s the first Silicon power SSD failure I’ve ever experienced and I’m confident this is a rare event.
Silicon power: could you please just send me another SSD?
It generally performs to its rated specifications, however there can sometimes be some variance.
If you are expecting super fast speeds and consistent performance, then you should spend a bit extra and get a unit that is not DRAMless.
I wouldn't use one of these DRAMless units for a boot drive (for windows), as it will likely run considerably slower than a unit that utilises DRAM.
If you are getting slower speeds than advertised (within reason), then ensure you have a proper SATA3 cable (6Gb/s), and you are connected to a SATA3 port on your motherboard (not SATA2 - also update your motherboard drivers).
This was the cheapest available SSD for at the time of purchase, so cannot be too critical on performance.
It does the job, and I am relatively happy with it (no issues to date: 4 weeks and counting).

My PC's performance and speed has improved dramatically. I was so pleased with the whole experience that I've bought a second SSD to put into my laptop.
