There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
Unfortunately all have failed in one way or another so I was hesitant in buying another one to replace the defunct units though the reviews of the Simplecom device were good so I decided to purchase it.
The order arrived very quickly from interstate and when I had the time I unpacked the components, read the instructions and connected the USB cable to my computer.
There were no problems here so after making sure the power switch on the unit was off I plugged in the power supply, (and yes it was the correct type for my country), then connected an 5.25" optical drive.
It worked fine and I was able to read and write files to a DVD.
I later tried connecting a SATA interface laptop drive and this worked without issue also.
The Simplecom unit seems robustly made and the plug in style power supply of decent quality.
The cost of the unit wasn't inexpensive but the price was still certainly acceptable.
A recommended purchase.
It doesn’t do it with all SATA drives, just some.
