With a wide family who enjoy karaoke singalongs at gatherings, this product fits our needs perfectly.
First and foremost, the 13,000 strong library of songs is absolutely phenomenal.
So much so, that whilst I have printed the (120 pages! of) song book, the free, complementary Android/iPhone SingMasters app just makes the piece - allowing one to search not only by (bits of) song title, _but also by artist_. Plus you can favourite songs to make your own ongoing personal picklist.
With so many songs to choose from, this generally proves to be just excellence in practice, enhancing song selection to a browsing pleasure. Continue to be pleasantly surprised at how many songs I'm able to happen across preloaded.
The expandability is another highly notable feature. I've successfully got both karaoke songs from YouTube and mp3+g from picknmix.com.au onto it with little ado, just following the instructions on the singmasters.com.au web site.
Hardware and software-wise, it's very strong - HDMI connection for HD backgrounds (good few out of the box and expandable/customisable - mp4s work well) and lyrics, with first class real time scoring; two wireless mics (and dual real time scoring :) having great sound quality (with echo settings too) each using 2x standard AA batteries, with decent battery life; and composite, stereo L & R RCA outputs for necessary separate audio connection (HDMI connections cause such a delay to audio transmission as to make impractical - this is a constraint of HDMI, nothing to do with this specific bit of kit).
Bottom line, you've choices for either composite or superior HDMI video output, as well as being able to play the sound directly out to anything with stereo RCA inputs.
The unit has a neat, small form factor and has shown itself to be durable enough for frequent transporting. Remote decent build quality with clearly labelled controls. The unit boots quickly and has a pretty good user interface - I'd say pretty easy to use, especially given the range of options available.
You've likely more control over the music than you'll need, with options to alter both pitch and/or tempo, as well as optionally having the singer's melody played too.
You can also choose to record performances to the SD card provided for later upload to computer.
On the negative side, did find a few rough edges to the software implementation, however a few finer points lacking on the app and the very occasional crash have been found to be small prices to pay for the overall (huge!) complement of features.
