How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Disappointing and far fetched. Found myself irritated by both "Ash" (agressive and self-justifying) and especially Alice, what a little wet rag, fiddling with her hair and hugging herself all the time. I may have missed it, but how old was this woman supposed to be? I finished it only out of curiousity and now find I cannot remember what happened, just how irritated I was by these two characters and their foibles. A shame, this book promised much but delivered little.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ash Henderson isn't my favourite of Stuart MacBride's detectives

Ash Henderson isn't my favourite of Stuart MacBride's detectives, I cannot seem to warm to him at all - am afraid Logan McCrae takes the number one spot for me.
However, as always I did enjoy Stuart MacBride's book, I like his style of writing and the wit he uses, I like his character development and the storylines - always just the right mix of gore and procedure for me. Maybe Ash just needs to grow on me a little :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book Hard to put down from start to finish

Stuart Macbride writes very well this is his tenth book I have read. I have not been able to put any of them down which has made sleeping difficult! When you get a book that keeps you engrossed you know it is good and the character Logan Mcrae is great.

Disappointing. Generic and padded with too much filler. I like the author's work, so this was an unpleasant surprise

5.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD STORY

I hadn't realised that this book was the second of two books. I shall definitely read the first book, as the second story was crime with a different slant. Very absorbing. Although set in a fictitious city the descriptions were so detailed it could have been an actual city. Perhaps it was. I would have preferred a real location, as with Stuart MacBride's Logan MacRae tales.

Another great book from Mr MacBride. Full of great characters and plots. I can highly recommend to all fans of Stuart's other main character , Logan MaxCrea.

4.0 out of 5 stars Song for the DYING

Boring at times. Difficult to believe that a Police C I havibng been cleared of murder could still be kept in jail as his tormentor arranged for him to be beaten up and then blamed for starting a fight! Even more difficult to believe that he can be rescued and then given enough leaway as if nothing had changed.
Having said that and annoyanceses apart a good easy read
