This is the third pair of these budget Sony on ear noise cancelling headphones I’ve owned in the last ten years or so. This in itself tells a story, in that I keep coming back to them, but that they are probably not the most durable set of headphones on the market. The cable connections can become loosened and damaged over time, and the leatherette covering the ear pieces (although extremely comfortable) eventually deteriorates. The design and manufacturing standards for these headphones doesn’t appear to have changed at all in the last ten years, so I guess this is how they manage to keep the price low.
For the money they offer an extremely comfortable (on my ears) and immersive listening experience. The aaa battery required to run the noise cancelling and full audio capacity lasts a long time if you remember to turn them off. If you’re looking for a set of headphones at a price that won’t leave you weeping for years if they become damaged or left behind on the seat of a bus, taxi or aeroplane, these are the way to go. (They also fold flat for packing).
