I have issues sleeping, so, almost every night I listen to music in bed for 30-90min. So I wanted an MP3 player that I could control in the dark. This has nice tactile buttons that I can easily find in the dark and skip through tracks with. Also an option to keep the screen from turning on when using the buttons, until you click the power button.
I've listened to it almost every night for 2 weeks and the battery indicator has only dropped 1 bar.
It feels good in the hand, has some weight to it, definitely a quality build. The sound is very good, and it has way more than enough to power my 36-Ohm AudioTechnica headphones. I've seen reviews saying it may not have enough power, but the reviews never mention what headphones they have. For basic 32-Ohm these are fine, again my 36-Ohm if I go too high hurt my ears. If you need it to go louder, you probably need to see an ear Doctor.
Happy I grabbed this player, and hoping it lasts a decade like my last ones.
The problem is that if you want/need to switch between (internal) music and FM radio while connected to a bluetooth device (earphones or speakers), you cannot. FM does not play over the bluetooth connection.
In my case, this was a show stopper.
Note that the device volume control does not (either) work on/with the bluetooth connection.
You have to ensure that your bluetooth earbuds or speaker has a volume control.
The touch screen is very responsive and there are so many options I have yet to try them all. Sadly you can't use equalizers when using bluetooth, but I find that I didn't even need the equalizer because the base sound is perfect for my liking.
The battery life seems pretty good, but I can't really tell since using bluetooth drains the battery faster. There is a battery care option, which is appreciated. I have had Walkmans before, so I'm pretty sure the battery life is on par with the rest of them.
Overall, I am very happy with this product and if you just want a good MP3 for when you go out and about, then I find this device to be perfect for that!
Bluetooth on this device has awesome stability and range!
I got super annoyed with my Fiio M7's buggy firmware and shoddy Bluetooth (and my previous Fiio X1 II) I had to move away from Fiio. I recall how well my old Sony A17 DAP played however it's BT wasn't all that great so I was a bit intimidated to buy the A55... So glad I did no issues at all.
