This triple-video docking station for laptops merges cutting-edge technology and high-quality hardware with innovative design elements. It’s one of the first universal laptop docking stations to support three external displays. When coupled with your laptop display, the docking station makes it easy to create a high-performance, high-resolution workstation with four displays in total, including one 4K DisplayPort display. With its expanded display presence, this specialty docking station is ideal for a wide range of applications. It offers a fast and easy way to maximize your laptop’s workable screen space, which is perfect for graphic and web designers, animators, financial analysts and more. A four-display workstation helps you get more done The triple-video docking station uniquely integrates two video chipsets, making it possible to connect one HDMI and two DisplayPort monitors to your laptop. With four total displays, you can manage several programs at once and avoid the nuisance of minimizing or rearranging windows. Plus it delivers 4K cinema resolution to the first DisplayPort monitor. This versatile docking station boosts your workflow with minimal impact on your budget, and it connects to your laptop or Windows based tablet through just one USB 3.0 (also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1 - 5Gbps) cable. 4K Ultra HD delivers ultimate display potential Why sacrifice image quality for display quantity? This top-of-the-line docking station offers the best of both worlds. It features three video ports, including a DisplayPort connection that supports 4K x 2K (3840 x 2160p - 30Hz) Ultra HD resolution. The docking station offers an enhanced method of upgrading the display capabilities of your computer. While many laptop docks offer two video outputs, they often don’t support three external displays, or Ultra High Definition. The full-featured dock delivers crystal-clear image quality without sacrificing the total number of external monitor connections, which is ideal for highly detailed and graphically intense applications. Plenty of ports gives you everything you need This triple-video docking station lets you connect up to 12 peripherals, to transform your laptop into a powerful, full-sized workstation. The dock also makes it easy to quickly charge your mobile devices, using the always-on fast-charge port. Plus, with five USB 3.0 ports, a headset jack, separate 3.5mm audio and microphone ports, as well as an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port, you have all the connections you need with no complications or extra costs. Unlike some docks, this easy-to-use docking station offers seamless, error-free driver installation that will have you up and running fast. Universally supported Unlike some proprietary docking stations designed only to work with specific laptop models, this universal laptop dock works with multiple brands. All you need is your laptop’s USB 3.0 port and you can be up and running quickly. With universal support, you can use this dock with different laptops now, or in the future. The USB3DOCKH2DP is backed by a StarTech.com 3-year warranty and free lifetime technical support. Triple Display Flexibility
The USB 3.0 docking station adds triple-monitor support to your workstation, with resolution support up to 4K (3840 x 2160p) on one display and 2048x1152 on the other two.
With more screens, combined with high resolution, the dock maximizes your screen real estate so you can simultaneously access multiple applications and compose on one display while referencing material on the other.
You can also use your laptop screen for four displays in total, making it easy to manage several programs at once and avoid the nuisance of minimizing or rearranging windows.
Powerful Connections and Fast Device Charging
To support all of your USB peripherals, the docking station provides five USB 3.0 ports. The side-facing USB port is a USB fast-charge port (USB Battery Charging Specification 1.2), so you can charge your mobile devices faster than from standard USB ports, with or without your laptop connected to the dock.
The dock also has a GbE port, headset jack and separate 3.5 mm audio and mic ports, so you’ll have all the connections you need to stay productive.

My laptop loves it and has no problem connecting or waking up when switching to it, my PC however hates it. The main drawback of this switch (any switch really) is that its USB based, so you're basically unplugging a whole bunch of USB's and that tends to make systems not that happy. WIN10 on my PC keeps deleting the USB 3.0 ports after each update and that means I lose all peripherals (make sure you have a backup mouse installed).
The picture quality also slows down, this as the switch has an in-ulit graphics card which negates any high powered graphics card in a PC. My solution was to plug the switch into both monitors, and then have secondary cables running from my PC to the monitors, that way if I wanted to do any gaming or watch a video, I manually change the input on my monitors and the switch takes care of the keyboard and mouse. Its not ideal, but true 4k switches that do not drop the refresh rate are very expensive.
My advice is thus, if you are plugging in two laptops, this is a very very good product!
If you are plugging in a PC, don't bother. Better to just have two keyboards and two mouse and manually switch the inputs on your monitor.
Switching between LAN and WiFi isn't always a viable option...
1. Clamshell mode for macOS does not work
2. Some windows show pixelation when seen on external monitors connect to this dock

- this device is using a software program to encode video, older operating systems (win 7 included) run this program in user mode, after logging on. Therefore, multiple displays are not available unless you are already logged on. It is not possible to use it as KVM for entering BIOS/uEFI from the additional display, for example.
- the encoder is using CPU cycles, sometimes you may notice mall lag/shuttering when the host computer CPU is not too powerful
- every time the device is powered on, a "firmware upload" happens. This may wear the internal flash, but I have no idea how many program cycles is that memory capable of. If the firmware upload function is writing to device RAM, then this is not an issue.
Edit: Startech support said it was a hardware issue; returned it to Amazon and got a replacement, but the replacement also does the same thing. Will be returning to Amazon for a refund. This product simply doesn't work. Returned for a full refund. Startech did follow up after I returned the replacement to see if things were working, so good on them for not just letting issues drop.
I have 2 monitors, keyboard and mouse connected to my desktop pc and wanted to quickly / easily use them with my work laptop. Seemed like a simple need but this was the only product I could find that did it.
It's quick to set up and worked fine on both desktop and laptop (both running Windows 10).
Unfortunately I discovered that it can only handle 2 monitors at 1080p. The description does state it is limited to one monitor for 4k resolution but I had hoped / assumed it would work for my two monitors -2560x1440 (1440p, aka 2k) and 1920x1080 (1080p) - at full resolution. This was not the case, and the larger monitor wouldn't run at max resolution. It was fine with the 1440p monitor on it's own, so I've ended up with *most* of what I wanted, but with only one monitor it's not a perfect solution - not a great outcome given the price.
Basically i wanted something that would allow me to dock my work laptop on my desk at home and use my own mouse, keyboard and monitors as well as being able to easily switch to my desktop if i needed to.
I freelance and therefore have my own "work" devices so installing drivers isn't an issue for me - worth noting that if your company restricts the installation of software you might want to check with them first if they'll help you install the device drivers. Otherwise the monitors won't connect (note that for me, even without the drivers, any usb devices such as my keyboard did connect to my work laptop, it was just the monitors that wouldn't).
resolutions aren't as wonderful as they perhaps could be but given that i'm not gaming, watching films or editing videos this isn't a massive deal for me.
Only minor complaint is that the button to switch between devices seems a little "sticky" but it hasn't caused any issues so far.
All in all it was easy to setup, has actually helped save me a ton of space on my desk and means i can switch between my laptop and desktop seamlessly.
2 monitors, 2 laptops, umpteen peripherals (some working off a USB extension). Plugged in, powered up - all worked fine immediately.
I was particularly concerned about connectivity to work laptop (no admin rights to install drivers), but I needn't have worried: multi-displays etc all controllable via Win 10 Display manager (think the only thing its missing out on is ability to copy data to/from this device).
Would be even greater if the USB3.0 A/B cables were longer (they are 3 ft), but they only cost a few £ if this is important to you.
